I finally managed to get out of the common room earlier to get to my afternoon classes, but I'm still in a bad mood. Partly because of the water, partly because of Weasley's comments on my journal entry. I've just come out of Arithmancy and I've strode off ahead of my friends, deciding to take out my anger on more deserving subjects. Several first years are sent scuttling off minus ten points each for having their shirts untucked, but it doesn't make me feel any better. Then I turn a corner and see the Weasley girl ahead of me. Without thinking, I draw my wand. "Petrificus Totalus!" She's going to pay for what she said. |

Hearing what sounds like the beginning of spell behind me, I draw my wand as I turn around -- there's no one else but me around, so there's no doubt who the target is. "Protego!" My Shield Charm takes the brunt of the force of the spell, though I stumble back slightly. I had reacted without thinking -- thanks DA! -- but I'm not surprised my charm has disappeared; it wasn't that strong. I look at Malfoy standing there with his wand out, and am momentarily confused by his sudden appearance. For a moment, I consider thanking the Slytherin for casting such a long winded spell, as if it had been any shorter, I doubt I could have reacted in time. I don't want him to spoil my previously good mood by duelling, but do I have a choice? I don't hesitate before casting my next spell to cut things short: "Expelliarmus!" No coward who attacks me while my back is turned gets away with it. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

I wasn't expecting her to react so fast and I leap aside as she shoots a Disarming Charm towards me, not trusting myself to cast a Shield Charm quickly enough - or for it to block the spell. But I'm still on my feet, I've still got my wand, and I'm up for this duel - even if I no longer have the advantage. "Furnunculus!" I'm going straight for the nasty curses and hexes. No stupid little Disarming Charms from me. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

I'm casting another Shield Charm before I know it, but I know I haven't put enough power behind it as soon as I utter the incantation. Malfoy's hex goes straight through my weak defense, and boils spring up on my skin. Gross! Staying positive, I shout the incantation for the Jelly-Legs Jinx. I just have to concentrate, and I'll easily beat him. Not caring for duelling etiquette, I follow my spell quickly with the Stinging Hex. If Malfoy wants to fight dirty, then a dirty fight he'll get. More prepared this time, I deflect Weasley's Jelly-Legs Jinx, but her Stinging Hex catches me off guard. It hits my hand and I drop my wand with a clatter. "Ahh! Shit -" Ignoring the painful red swelling on my hand, I lunge for my wand. This can't be over yet! (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

Smirking victoriously as he drops his wand, I can't help but admire my handiwork. Seeing him in pain is almost worth the boils. "Accio wand!" This fight is so over. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

I scrabble desperately on the ground but my wand goes shooting away before I can grab it. Breathing heavily, I get to my feet, glaring at the Weasley brat. "All right," I say through clenched teeth. "All right." I can't say the words You've won, it's over, but it's obvious anyway. I hold out my hand for my wand. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

I catch the wand as it flies towards me, closing my left hand around it. I regard it for a moment, turning it around. My wand looked nicer. Even though I've won, I was yet to feel completely victorious, and so hesitate in giving him his wand back; what was to stop him from attacking me once my back was turned (again!)? No, he wasn't getting his wand back that easily. Knowing he can't defend himself, I utter "Locomotor Mortis," before turning and walking away, dropping his wand on the floor as I do so. Hopefully that'll stop him from doing anything. "Like I said, Malfoy," I call over my shoulder, unable to resist the triumphant smile growing on my face, "you're the biggest insult to your family there is." |
