Even as the spectators head down to the Quidditch, it is proving to be yet another wet Quidditch game. Tension is high as students wonder just who will come out victorious in this game. After the previous game that featured Hufflepuff against Slytherin, there are high hopes for another vicious and painful game for the members of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. It doesn't take long for the stands to fill - it seems as though everyone in the castle plus some are watching what promises to be an exciting game.
It doesn't take long at all for those promises to be kept when as soon as captains Matilda Dukelow and Killian Mulciber exchange a handshake and the balls are in the air, the players are flying off in opposite directions. Malfoy catches the quaffle and takes no time shooting off toward Ryskamp and aimed to score. Ryskamp, however, blocked the goal and threw it back into play - only to be intercepted by Malfoy again. This time when he went to score, his aim was on and went right through the hoops.
Slytherin 10 and Ravenclaw 0.
The quaffle goes into Ravenclaw's possession under the care of Aubrey, who takes off down the field. Obviously on his game and carefully dodging a bludger aimed by Mulciber - game is suddenly called to a halt when he again dodges. However, this time instead of a bludger it is a Beater bat, aimed by Crouch. Hooch instantly takes him off of the field to sit on the bench, her scolding overpowered by the yells from the crowd of spectators. Hooch announces that he will be suspended from playing for the rest of the game for playing dirty, leaving Slytherin with only one Beater as the game continues.
Aubrey takes control of the quaffle again, quickly passing over to Bell who sinks the quaffle in tying the game at 10. The quaffle goes into Slytherin possession for only a moment when Dearborn steals the quaffle from Carrow and passes to Aubrey, who takes advantage of the quick turn around and scores again.
Ravenclaw 20 and Slytherin 10.
Rosier takes control of the quaffle and streaks down the field. He passes quickly to Malfoy, who nearly has the ball taken from him by Dearborn. However, with a quick pass back to Rosier and a careful kick at Dearborn's broom (which is not seen by Hooch), Rosier scores tying the score again at 20. Luckily, Dearborn was able to stay on his broom and game continues.
Play continued for an hour and a half without so much of a major hiccup. Bludgers were hit and dodged and goals were made. It wasn't until the score sat at
Ravenclaw 130 and Slytherin 90 that Mulciber hit a particularly nasty bludger toward Dukelow, causing her bat to fly off and nearly hit Gudgeon as he streaked across the field in search for the Snitch. Begrudgingly, Dukelow is taken off of the field to be checked over and game continues with both teams down a Beater.
Game continues and after a half hour of play Dukelow is allowed back onto the field. With the score now at
Ravenclaw 150 and Slytherin 120, the game is already proving to be giving high stakes. Only ten minutes later, a bludger is hit toward the announcer's box, most likely in retaliation toward the commenting that Longbottom had been stating, commenting on how rough the Slytherins were playing. Whether or not Mulciber noticed that this was something that only accentuated the statement being made is questionable, but after a shout from Professor McGonagall, the game is back in play.
Not only is the game proving to be high stakes, but also a long one when nearly another hour passes without so much of a sign of the snitch. The weather starts to get wetter and spectators are huddled together in the benches as they highly anticipate where the game might end up. By now the score is
Slytherin 220 with Ravenclaw in possession and close behind at 210.
Suddenly, a bludger hit by Mulciber hits a well aimed bludger at Bell, who drops the quaffle into Malfoy's waiting hands. When asked to be taken off of the field, Bell insists that he is fine and continues in play. Meanwhile, Malfoy passes to Rosier who only has the ball stolen from him by Dearborn, who quickly takes off down to the other side of the field and easier than normal scores against Rookwood tying the score at 220.
Just when the game doesn't seem as though it could get any bloodier, a bludger aimed by Mulciber is hit toward Ryskamp. Otherwise having done a good job dodging the bludgers aimed toward her earlier on in the game, this time it seems her luck has run out when she is hit directly in the head by the bludger, easily being knocked out and falling off of her broom. Her fall is stopped by Hooch, who flies in just in time to take her off of the field and toward Madam Pomfrey.
Now down a Keeper, Slytherin fans are ecstatic by the sudden turn in the game. Malfoy takes control of the quaffle and just after he scores, Gudgeon and Black are suddenly racing across the field on the Slytherin side after a nearly six hour long game. Black inches
