Characters: The Marauders
Setting: Potter household, Thursday, August 23rd
Summary: Probably something mischevious?
Rating: TBA
Summer was quickly dwindling to an end now that Sirius was staying at the Potters'. He'd managed to surpress the guilt he had about leaving Regie behind, and was having so much fun with James that the summer was now going too fast. After gaining permission from his parents, James and Sirius owled Remus and Peter to invite them over for the day. They, after all, had planning to do.
Laying lazily on the couch in the sitting room, Sirius was attempting to think of ways to make this party at Diagon Alley unforgettable. (Aside from streaking, which he had to do, as he'd never let anyone say he was "all talk".)
Something brilliant. Something brilliant that won't get them kicked out before they get to spend the evening snogging fit witches. Sirius briefly wondered what the chances were he could convince them all to participate in the streaking stunt, but knew there was probably a greater chance at getting Remus on his bike again. Which was saying something considering the last time Remus got on the motorbike Sirius crashed it into an attic.
"Oi. Prongs. What's taking them so long?" Sirius said, impatiently, thinking at least one of them should have arrived by now.
James had decided to simply refuse to acknowledge the fact that summer was rapidly coming to an end. As far as James was concerned, summer wasn't over until he was getting up at grossly hours of the morning and dragging himself off to sit through a Potions lesson with Professor Slughorn. James was still in such a "summer frame of mind" that the mere idea of staring at Professor Slughorn's oddly walrus like face seemed utterly bizarre to him.
Instead, James concerned himself with matters of grand pranks and having as much fun as he possibly could rather than worrying about his yet to be touched summer assignments. Who needed to bother with those when there was still plenty of summer left? No, James Potter had much more pressing matters to attend to than his stupid summer assignments. He had to figure out how exactly a grand prank would be possible without the use of a wand. So far, James had come up with very few answers to this pressing issue, but had spent a good amount of plotting time complaining about how unfair it was that they weren't allowed to do magic outside of school.
"Dunno," James said and then tossed a Quidditch magazine over on to the side table beside his chair. "Hope they hurry up though, I'm starting to get pretty bored waiting around."
Remus had found himself growing increasingly excited about the prospect of visiting his friends. As much as he enjoyed spending quiet time at home with his family, reading books and doing the same as always, any chance to see James, Sirius, and Peter was an event to be jumped on. He tended to feel lonely during the summers, and he couldn't think of people more important to him in the world than his three best friends.
Coming up to James's front door -- his mum had driven him, as she insisted it was better than magical transport, and he wasn't old enough to Apparate -- Remus allowed a grin to crack his face. With a quick goodbye to his mother, he trekked up and knocked on the door, rocking back and forth on his feet as he waited.
James sat up a bit when he heard the knock. "That's probably one of them," James said and then hoisted himself out of his chair. James made his way out of the sitting room and over to the front door. James opened the door and grinned when he saw Remus.
"Hey Moony!" he greeted. It was weird in the summer not having Remus around all the time, so James was really glad to see him. "Come in, Peter should be coming soon too," James told Remus and pushed the door open for him.
Peter was beyond excited about visiting his friends. After doing all the chores his mother had him do, and again forbidding her from touching his dreadlocked hair, he caught the train from Brighton to Birmingham - he was glad he had brought a book during the three hour ride, but regretting not bringing his journal. At least with that he could be talking to someone during the long trip.
Once at the station, he hailed a cab, gave James' address and relaxed in the cab until it pulled up to James'. HE tipped the driver, then ran up the steps, knocking on the door, a bit breathless.
James had just led Remus in when the second knock came, and Sirius got up and bounded to the door. Finally, they were all there. He answered the door, with a trade mark mischievous grin upon his face, "Petey, finally!" Sirius exclaimed. While Remus and Peter seemed to arrive at the same time, it doesn't mean that Sirius had been very patiently waiting for them all day.
"Moony's already here, come on," he said leading Peter into the sitting room where James and Remus were waiting. "Brilliant, now we can come up with some grand scheme for Saturday. And don't give us that whole school rules rubbish, Rem, as school hasn't started yet," Sirius laughed and plopped down onto the nearest chair.
Remus had opened his mouth to say just that, but he promptly closed it, mouth quirked a little. He knew there wasn't really a point in bringing up something trivial like rules; and honestly, he wasn't particularly gifted at convincing them of why rules should have any standing on their actions anyway. But even so, he usually liked to at least pretend he had tried, considering he was a prefect, and all. He just seemed to fail dismally at keeping them in line, each and every time.
"So what are you lot thinking, anyway?"
An amused grin broke out over James's face as he watched Remus abruptly close his mouth after Sirius's comment about the rules. James could only assume Remus was restraining himself from giving them a bit of a lecture as to how they really shouldn't do anything too bad, and they'd get in trouble, et cetera, et cetera. James usually sat through such a lecture with the same sort of goofy grin on his face, so the fact that Remus had warranted not to make one didn't make much of a difference in James's reaction.
"Well, I think we need something that's big and general," James said. "If we want to make a scene we've got to do something that'll really get everyone and everything," he said. "Of course, if we see Snivellus there I'm sure we could think of something...special for him, but somehow I doubt if he'll even be there," James said and then looked over at Sirius. "Didn't you have an idea?" he asked casually.
