WHO Dorcas Meadowes and Fabian Prewett
WHEN BACKLOG // a hot July summer day
WHERE Prewetts' place, in Fabian's treehouse
WHAT A random meet between the two in which Fabian exaggerates with his sister's pregnancy, his twin, and they talk about summer plans.
RATING PG
Best part about the summers was that even though Dorcas saw all her friends in school, it was an entirely different thing to see them outside of school. Instead of seeing each other in hallways, classrooms and commonrooms, there were a wide variety of places to go outside of school. Most exciting was their homes. She'd been in the Prewett's residents before, though it was months ago during the Christmas hols. Even then, she still remembered the tour of the house and the notible places -- like Fabian's bedroom. And his tree house.
At that time, she'd been clad in winter garments and freezing to her toes looking at that thing and not wanting to climb because it would be a hassle to melt the ice away. At least now, in the summer, there was no need to waste time with that, and she could just run up and plant herself in it. Wearing a sundress too, instead of the heavy cloak. And so that was exactly what she did that morning when she stopped by to visit, hoping to see him in there. Otherwise, she wouldn't mind waiting, possibly surprising him.
"Gideon it's so hot!" Fabian whined as he heard footsteps up the ladder. He was laying on his back in a pair of short pants and a very old, thin t-shirt in front of a wireless that was blasting out the latest Hobgoblin's tune and using his wand to repetitively cast a small wind charm. It was probably cooler inside, but Fabian was boycotting being inside since Molly was over but the boys weren't. Being around a very pregnant sister was not fun in this sweltering heat. "Did you bring ice or something? I'm going to die, I swear to mother fuck-" Fabian just looked up to see that it was not Gideon but Dorcas climbing through the trapdoor at his feet. "Er, hi."
Okay, Dorcas was a much better person to appear than Gideon and two, she looked really hot. Not just mid-day on one of the hottest days in the past decade hot, but Fabian wishing he had worn something other than a dirty shirt and riped up short pants today kind of hot. "W-what are you doing here?" he asked stupidly, scrambling to sit up and nearly hitting his head on one of the dangling beater's bats.
Figures that he hadn't been expecting her. It wasn't like she had owled him about it. But she loved giving him surprises, and the look on his face at that moment was enough to make her own lips twitch up in a wide smile. "Hi, you," she said, crawling over to him and planting a wet one on his cheek. "I came by to see you."
It didn't really matter to her what he was wearing. She had already seen him in almost everything he had. Whether it be in his Quidditch outfit right after the game when he was wet with sweat or in the proper uniforms for class. Hell, she'd seen him wearing nothing too. There was no disgust as she turned and attempted to lie down next to him, although he was trying to sit up.
Fabian hesitated as she tried to lay next to him because well should he sit up or what- god he never knew what to do with his hands and you'd think it would get a lot easier the longer you were dating, but he still got all tongue tied and fidgety when she was around. Just thinking about Dorcas made Fabian's heart race and well, having her there was a lot more than just thinking about her. Fabian grinned at her and pushed his sweaty fringe off of his forehead, not realising it was now just sticking straight up and he rolled onto his side to face her. "Did you get waylaid by Molly? She's absolutely wretched today, and I know that's really bad to say but I swear she almost chucked a vase at my head. Just because I took third helpings at lunch and she didn't say she wanted that pickle, I swear she nearly stabbed me with that fork. Nasty piece of work. Not her fault, but Arthur is totally not welcome to darken my doorstep anytime."
"I'm glad you showed up. I was about to die of boredom. I think they've played this song like eight times in the last couple of hours and I'm whining a lot. Sorry, it's just hot and I'm in a mood. Thank you for showing up. You look absolutely gorgeous, love," Fabian leaned over Dorcas, giving her a sweet kiss on the mouth.
Dorcas easily fit in the small area, and rolled to her side as well, watching Fabian as he spoke. She was aware of his behavior around him, and it was almost adorable that she was sometimes influenced to act the same way. Though it wasn't like she didn't have her little reactions when he was around either. Have him walk into a room while she was in a deep conversation with someone else and most likely she'd forget that was she was repeating the words "and then" about a hundred times while her eyes were focused on her boyfriend.
In that tree house, however, they were alone with no distractions and Dorcas was giving him that smile that she always had when he was close. She reached up and started laying his fringe flat as he talked and then placed her arm over his shoulder, moving in closer. "She was... nice. Pleasant. Didn't say much to me. Your mother said hi, at least. I just wanted to come see you." She smiled again, and shifted closer so their knees were touching. This was nothing, though, they had been much more closer than this before. "Thanks, darling. I wanted to give you a surprise. I missed you so much even though I saw you a few days ago." This wasn't like at school where they saw each other five days in a row, usually in class and in the Great Hall.
"Hm, she probably likes you because you're a girl but, don't let her corner you or she'll start going on about," Fabian had to swallow hard because Dorcas was really close and as stupid as he felt getting all tongue tied and soppy around her, but really, he wished the butterflies would never stop showing up when he saw her smile. "Sex. She nearly hexed me yesterday when I rolled my eyes because like, I think mothers have this extrasensory perception or something about sex and she told me that she would well," Fabian flushed a little, mostly out of embarrassment, "she was pretty graphic about how she'd maim me if I got you pregnant which I'm so not planning to do and yeah."
The other poor side effect of being around Dorcas was that the filter between his mouth and brain was virtually non-existent and pretty much everything he thought would come tumbling out of his mouth, whether it was proper or not. He'd been better lately though, about not saying things about other girls (not that there were really other girls it was just something Quidditch players did and he was a teenaged boy) and really, Fabian just thought way too much for his own good. "You can come over whenever you want, you know my parents love you, even if Gideon's being an arsewipe."
Dorcas had to laugh at such a thought, most likely a huge exaggeration because Fabian tended to do that a whole lot. He get her pregnant? They were careful enough as it is. The idea seemed ridiculous although the new one that came to mind didn't. She and pregnant? With Fabian's child after they were... married? Merlin it was too early to think about that but in Dorcas' mind, she was already placing her first name before Prewett.
"Maybe if I ask for some pastries during the long lecture, I can focus on that and drown everything else out? Not that I think we should tell her about it, but she really doesn't have to worry. We've been careful all the time." She sighed and shook her head slightly. "I think Mum would maim me if it happened before maiming you, though. I would warn you beforehand though, so you have enough time to hide." She gave him a cheeky grin before moving in to kiss him. "I'll definitely be coming over often this summer, yes. No big plans?"
Fabian gave her a doubtful look, but was really too busy tangling their feet together and slipping one of his knees between hers, "I don't think we have to tell her anything. She already knows, I'm sure of it. If it's not that, Gid's probably complained about it, even in a flippant manner. Really do think he needs a girlfriend but he won't hear anything about it. I feel, I dunno, he's jealous maybe?" It actually bothered Fabian a lot more than he was willing to admit to Dorcas that his twin didn't like his girlfriend; especially one as good as Dorcas who was definitely staying around as long as Fabian could help it.
He took the kiss first, sliding one hand up her back and shifting so she could rest her head on his arm, before responding, "Mmm plans? Other than camping with Gid on the moor the only thing I have planned is coaching Q.U.A.I.L and that's only two nights a week and every other Saturday." Bill wasn't quite old enough to play in the Quidditch Underage Association and Introductory League, but Fabian had played when he was younger and working with eight, nine and ten year olds helped him when it came to dealing with some of the students on his team at Hogwarts. "Why, you got some big plans, hot stuff?"
Gideon jealous of them? Dorcas never thought that was likely but now that he mentioned it, she was starting to consider it a possibility. "Perhaps. But jealous of what? That you have a girlfriend and he doesn't? Maybe he doesn't need to be match-maked in front of his face... maybe he just has to meet that right someone." That was probably going to hard for them to fix up. If theywere going to try to fix something.
Thoughts of why Gid's jealous disappeared though when he kissed her and she smiled, placing one arm around his waist. "That sounds fun. My brother wants to take the whole family on a family vacation next week. Heading for Spain on Saturday. I can't wait. We'll be away for two weeks."
"Erm, no actually, I don't think he's so much jealous of us, more of...well you. And the time I spend with you. 'Cause it's been me and him forever and yeah we've got our own friends but it's still been us and well now it's you and me us not him and yeah. So he hasn't said anything to you about it?" Fabian was definitely relieved about that, because the quickest way to meet Fabian's fist was for Gideon to be spouting stuff to Dorcas about it. The stroppy git was probably just avoiding all contact though. It kind of made Fabian feel guilty, but that's why he'd been planning this camping trip on the moor with just his twin.
A feeling which left as soon as that sentence left her mouth. Two weeks? It wasn't just that, either, but Spain? Could she go any further away? That was like going to Antarctica or something and Fabian's face fell a little in disappointment. "Two weeks? Like, a fortnight? The whole time? Why? Why so soon? Saturday is like, the end of this week!" Okay it wasn't that long but when you had a really hot girlfriend, two weeks apart was like murder!
"Nothing to me, no. We barely talk." She didn't know if it was better that way or not; she supposed it depended on how Fabian would react to it. But the idea of him being jealous of her wasn't relieving to hear.
At his reaction, Dorcas scowled playfully, though she couldn't stop the slight smile on her lips. "Not the end of this week, silly, next week. This Saturday would be too soon, yes." Of course any Saturday was likely to be too soon. "I'll be back before you know it, and I promise I wouldn't stay there longer than that." At least she hoped they wouldn't. Her brother was known to be a bit spontaneous. Like the time he launched the news on their parents that he was getting married when he and his girlfriend had barely been dating for that long. It was possible he would go "hey let's stay for longer" if he enjoyed it too much.
Fabian nodded sourly and pressed his face into her shoulder, acting like he was greatly upset by this matter. Not that he wasn't, having your girlfriend skip town for two weeks was really depressing, but maybe he could get a little mileage out of this. She probably knew what he was playing at but hopefully she was in a good enough mood to go along with it. Fabian rolled her onto her back and settled himself against her, unable to keep the smirk off of his face but tried to pass it off by kissing her neck.
"If we've only got a week we better make the best of it yea?" he asked with a snicker even though the arm around her waist tightened it's grip. Fabian really didn't want her to go. What if something happened? People were disappearing and it was in the news just the other day about a portkey gone awry. "Love you," he mumbled into her skin.
Dorcas let a slight giggle escape as she moved back and she brought her arms around his neck. She was going to miss him, even if it was only two weeks. But that was fourteen days, and if you thought about it in terms of days, then yes, it definitely would be long. Hopefully the family would have loads of fun that time would fly quickly. She doubted it. But oh, what a surprise it would be if in the middle of her trip, Fabian suddenly popped up somewhere in Spain smiling at her from across the road. Wishful thinking, yes. But the thought was so cute... maybe she watched one too many Muggle romance flicks.
But for now, he was right -- better to make best of the days they have before leaving. "In the tree house?" she asked, amused, though she wouldn't mind and hugged him closer. "I hope you have wards on this thing. And I love you too."
If Fabian had been smarter, he would already been planing to meet up with her in Spain, but currently he was looking forward to two weeks of heavy moping and pouting with a side of camping with his twin. He started kissing her neck in a familiar manner because yes, he was a randy teenager with a girlfriend that didn't mind and actually encouraged it. But she was right, a tree house was kind of a poor place and well, he had his wand but Fabian wasn't that uncouth. He lifted his face to capture her mouth in a deep, distracting kiss and he reached to his back pocket for his wand.
With a loud crack they appeared right on top of his bed and Fabian couldn't help but smirk in triumph. Fabian knew he was pretty spectacular at some spells, and he'd taken to apparation like he'd been doing it for years. He was definitely more comfortable popping down to the breakfast table than he was walking down the stairs. Okay, it wouldn't have taken them that long to actually walk to his room, but he didn't want to be waylaid by his pregnant sister when he was starting to get worked up. "This better," he asked, dropping his wand to the floor after casting a locking charm and hexing the door shut.
It probably made better sense to leave the treehouse than actually doing anything here, because if Gideon found out, Dorcas might have live with guilt if he decided he wasn't ever going to use the treehouse again. It was bad enough having to hear that he might be angry because she was spending most of Fabian's time. She was actually suggesting they go elsewhere when her boyfriend decided to lay one on her.. a very distracting one too. Well, hell, suggesting it later wouldn't be bad either.
But one second her back on was hard floor and the next, on something incredibly soft. She pulled away and looked at her settings, and then back at Fabian's smirk. Well, now... that was useful. Pity that Dorcas hadn't gotten the hang of apparating just yet. She never gotten splinched, no, but just ended up a few feet off from where she was supposed to. Basically, apparating into the dining room chair wasn't a good idea because her behind fell back onto the floor instead.
"Much better," she said, smiling up at him before she reached up lock lips again.
