"Frankie, it won't hurt!" Tierney said wickedly, pulling on his arm as she nearly drug him across the courtyard. "And you PROMISED," she hissed, half way between teasing and a threat.
"Tierney, really, I know I offered to help but this is just weird," Frank said, laughing in spite of himself and giving up on trying to pull away from her, though he could have easily if he'd been too worried. "Gypsy magic can be unpredictable, can't it?" he asked.
"It's a love spell Frank, and a teeny tiny one as well. C'mon pleeeeeease, I have to try it on a male and I'd usually ask Sirius but he's been grumpy and all the girls love him anyway, PLEASE," she said, begging and giving him big puppy dog eyes. "We won't tell anybody," she offered. "PLLLLLLLEEEEEEEASE, this is the ONLY connection I have left to my grandmum," she added, knowing Frank was always a sucker for that sort of thing.
"Fine," he sighed, "FINE, but Tierney, seriously, this better not turn me blue or make me fall head over heels in love with a bloke or ANYTHING," he said.
"It won't," she swore. "I just have to say the incantation when the first light hits you and then toss a bit of rose water on you and the only thing that will happen is that you'll notice an ever so slight increase in the amount of girls who speak to you today. It isn't even designed to make them fall in love with you, just seek you out," she prodded, looking down at her pocket watch. They had a minute till first light.
"Just stand there," she said, lining him up in the predecided place that she'd researched the previous few mornings. The light peaked above the horizon and sure enough it shown on Frank in one direct beam. Tierney tossed the rose water on him and saidthe incantation. "Now spin clockwise three times," she said.
Frank started to turn but Tierney grabbed his shoulder. "Frank- CLOCKWISE-" she said, and he started to spin the other direction.
"Ummm... Tierney, three times from where I was when the sun hit me or three times from where I was when I started spinning?" he asked a bit hesitantly.
"Three times from..." Tierney had no idea. "Three times from when the sun hit you..." This could be bad.
Frank stopped spinning and Tierney sort of cocked her head to look at him. She was seeing him in a slightly new light and it wasn't just the dawning sun. Frank had always been cute in that prefect, smile for everyone, kind of way, but this was new. Maybe it was because he'd been so willing to help her. He was always sweet like that. She took a step closer to him and he took a step back.
"What are you doing, Tierney?" he asked, in a voice that held a great deal of terror.
"Just... I don't know..." she said quietly, "Don't say a word Frank, the moment is perfect," she said in a slightly posessed voice.
"Bloody hell," he muttered. He spotted a shadow of a person coming toward them and he yelled out and waved them over. Anything or anyone would be better than a lovestruck Tierney.
Mary had been awoken early that morning by the sound of giggling in the common room, and after trying several times to fall back asleep, she finally gave up and decided to go for a walk outside before she had to be up.
It was a beautiful day out, if not more than a little cold. The air was crisp and clear, and in the distance she could make out two people. As she got closer she recognized them and waved. "Oi! Frank! What are you two doing out here so early?" she asked, walking up to them.
It only took her a moment to notice something a little off about Tierney. Maybe the way she was staring so deeply at Frank. She tilted her head in curiosity. She couldn't put her finger on it though, so she shrugged it off for the time being.
"Tierney, do you think you could run up to the dorm and fetch me the book I left on the table?" he asked, her verbally flinching at every word.
Tierney gave him a nod and a smile and took off nearly racing toward the tower.
"This is bad, this is VERY bad," Frank said, turning to Mary unsure whether to laugh or groan. "Tierney begged me to ler her try a Gypsy spell on me and we did it wrong and now she's in love with me," he said, sounding quite pained about it.
"You're not in love with me too are you?" he asked, taking another step back
Mary simply smiled when Tierney took off to get Frank's book. That was nice of her. Her expression changed back to one of confusion though, as soon as Frank started talking.
"Oh Frank! Kiss me!" she said, rather over-dramatically, before bursting into a fit of giggles. "No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I'm about as In Love with you as I was yesterday. Don't worry."
"Wait, what? Why were you doing a Gypsy spell?" she asked, tilting her head again.
