WHO Sonya Blade and John Wick WHAT Random run in WHEN Forward dated to Monday morning WHERE The park WARNINGS TBD, possible mention of past traumas

The weather being what it was, Sonya didn’t feel comfortable letting Cassie on her morning run. The ground was slippery with rain and what looked to be snow, and she didn’t trust Cassie not to slip several times over: children’s sneakers were hardly meant for serious traction after all.
She however enjoyed running through the rain, atleast when it remained no harder than a drizzle. The cold didn’t matter after five minutes of jogging, and the rain ensured a way to keep cool while she kept at a steady pace.
Besides, whatever outside distractions there were, provided a welcome change from the distractions in her head. Had she been back home, it would’ve been a day off, she’d be spending it with some of the guys in her squad and their families-her family. They’d take a free meal some place and raise a glass to those that were no longer with them.
She quickened her pace, not even counting distance so long as she could escape the thoughts in her head. Perhaps it wasn’t healthy, but she couldn’t dwell on them either. It helped no one that her one ally from home had been taken away-it helped no one that she’d been separated from her friends and allies for three years.
At some point, around the six mile mark, she stopped by a park bench to stretch out. As she did so, she spotted a man walking a dog, recognizing him from the foodie club. In truth, on more than one occasion she came across him during her morning jogs, always walking a dog, but not always the same.
She adjusted her cap. “Not the best weather to be walking a dog in.” Though, atleast his buddy seemed to enjoy it, if the wagging tale was anything to go by. .
