Lucas was 90% sure that Dean was going to bail on pie day per usual, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to show up just in case. He was a little earlier than usual, since he did kind of figure he'd be on his own. There wasn't any point in spending all day at Hinkles just to be disappointed. He was greeted by name from the waitresses and took his usual seat, though it happened to be right next to someone he didn't recognize.
"Hi," he greeted warmly. "I hope you don't mind. I always sit here. My friend sits there, but he's probably not coming today. He hasn't come by for a couple of weeks." Lucas definitely sounded a little upset about that, but he was trying his best to stay positive. "If he does come, he can sit over here," he added, gesturing to the empty seat on the other side of him.
"Oh, can I have pumpkin pie today, Ms Angela?" Lucas asked, directing the question to the waitress.
"Of course, dear. I'll even get Connie to make a fresh batch of whipped cream. Give me a few minutes," Angela replied. Lucas just smiled brightly and went back to waiting for his pie.
