Food had been eaten. The cake had been consumed and also wiped off of faces, Corso's included. It wasn't a horrible and terrifying mess, but it had been fun. That was what had mattered for Corso when it came to the kids and Paige.
He'd brought two round tier cakes each decorated and personalized for the kids. They were bright and colorful and were completed with sprinkles in equally bright shades.
Clean-up was easy because, at Corso's insistence, he had brought paper goods and plastic utensils. He wasn't fancy and Paige had no need to take out good china on his behalf. A bag in hand, he was busy sweeping the plates and clutter into it while sneaking a few last tastes of leftover icing from their plates.
He'd come to stand beside Paige and leaned down to drop a gentle kiss at the nape of her neck. "Thought I saw some frosting," he said with a grin, clearly proud of his reasoning.
