Matt & Penelope
It was probably for the best that Penelope had managed to get a hold of the park. Matt knew this city was big on loss. It was hard not to be, when so many of them had been pulled here from tragic situations. His world and those from it alone had seen so much darkness over the last several years that he couldn't imagine a few of them not coming to pay their respects. No one in his family was remotely Latino, but he had studied Spanish extensively for years and that included parts of their culture. So it was nice to be able to pay his respects to his father, and to the many others he'd lost. Many were his own fault, and he spent several moments of prayer and reflection at the altar before returning to Penelope's side.
Helping her set up and keeping her calm had been easy. She was easy to talk to, after all, and he enjoyed spending time with her. Maybe it would lead to something, maybe it wouldn't. It was still too early to tell and he wasn't upset about that. What did matter was getting to enjoy meeting new people.
He had brought over two mugs of the steaming cocoa, offering a smile. "You had an amazing idea, you know. I think a lot of people here tonight needed this."
