Ever since her conversation with Ian on the network, Layla had been mulling over how homosexuality was addressed in her religion. She didn't go right to Amaar though because she wanted to be able to interpret it for herself, the way he was always encouraging her to do. That investigation had been waylaid a bit as there were new arrivals and some departures and Molly was going on her trip with Shuri and Kim and boys. That definitely helped her to realize that she wasn't ready for anything like that, since it just seemed like a big step. Dating was the step before marriage, after all. It was much more serious a thing. Layla was beginning to appreciate that more and more, especially as she wore her hijab more often than not.
She did, eventually, find her way back to the question at hand, so she sat herself at the kitchen table with a cup of tea and her laptop. The Wikipedia article was very long, with a lot of 'go here for more information', so it was slow going and she waned to be sure to check the sources as well while she was at it. Her notebook was next to her, a sheet divided into two columns 'PRO' and 'CON' so that she could see the arguments for and against so she could decide for herself. The thing that she realized was that so long as people weren't hurting anyone, she didn't think it should matter whether or not someone was dating someone of the same sex.
Layla heard footsteps enter the kitchen but she barely glanced up as she said, "Hey Amaar," not thinking anything of what he might think about her research project.
