Who: Phoebe Halliwell + Poe Dameron
When: Backdated to Hogwarts
Where: Hogwarts portal
Status: Closed | Complete
Warnings: None.
After their conversation on the network, Poe used his phone to see if he could find out more information about Hogwarts. Learning that it was a magical school made popular by a series of books in some worlds gave him good insight into why his girlfriend would want to visit and he was looking forward to the trip.
He met Phoebe outside of Magic Alley, carrying two cups of coffee so they could caffeinate properly for their adventure.
What was the appropriate dress for visiting a magical realm? Poe wasn’t entirely sure and hoped that his jeans and polo shirt were suitable enough. He smiled when he saw Phoebe walking towards him and leaned down to greet her with a kiss on the cheek before handing over her coffee. “Ready?”
***
For her part, Phoebe had decided on a flowy grass-green skirt with red flowers and an off-the-shoulder red top to match. She was excited to check out Hogwarts, and she wondered if it would compare to the Magic School Paige had run back in their world. She had been thinking about suggesting her sister open one in Madison Valley but hadn’t managed to say anything before she went home, so she wondered if this might give her a few ideas.
“Always,” she told her boyfriend with a flirtatious smile before taking the coffee and turning to open the door. Once they made their way to the actual portal, she slipped her hand into Poe’s and squeezed it before they stepped through, then smiled brightly once they hit the other side.
“I never thought I’d be able to actually check this place out.”
***
“I assume you’re familiar with it from those books or movies?” Poe said. Or maybe she was friendly with the young woman who posted on the network about the portal who was apparently from this world.
He was happy with the timing, hoping that the distraction would help Phoebe deal with one of her sisters being sent home. Her family was close and he knew the loss was a blow to all of them, though he suspected that Phoebe’s empathy made it a bit more difficult for her.
***
“I’ve seen a couple of the movies since we’ve been in Madison Valley,” Phoebe replied. The books hadn’t been on her radar yet in her own time, and she didn’t think they were all out by that time anyway. Movies were definitely less of a commitment time-wise than books.
“It’s strange knowing that some of the people are here, but in general I enjoyed them. Getting to experience this for myself is even better, though. Maybe we can rent one when we’re back, if you want?”
***
Poe shrugged. “Sure, we can do that,” he said. He knew there were movies about his world and he’d deliberately not sought them out, though he knew they were very popular in some people’s worlds.
Watching movies was a good way to learn more about Earth though and he was never going to turn down spending time curled up with Phoebe on the couch.

“Okay, great,” she said as she grinned at him. “You know, you’re the most agreeable person I know. Not that it’s a bad thing, it’s a little refreshing. But we can definitely watch it if you like.” Phoebe took a sip of her coffee, then turned to look up at the castle.
“Where should we go first in this place?”
***
Not being constantly at war tended to make a guy pretty agreeable. Poe was trying to make the most of his break from the strife he dealt with at home and enjoy every moment he had on this relatively peaceful planet.
“Uh, I have no idea,” he said. “Knowing you, I’m thinking either the library or the potions area though.”
***
“I wonder who the potions teacher is here,” she mused as she linked their hands together and smiled while they began to walk inside. “Oh, maybe we can even catch a quidditch game while we’re here. I think you’d like that - it’s played up in the air. On broomsticks, rather than in ships, but still it’s flying,” Phoebe told him as they headed down the main entry hall.
***
Any kind of flying sounded pretty interesting to Poe, so he nodded his agreement to her suggestion. He’d learned all kinds of different sports during his time in Madison Valley and none of them involved flying.
“This place is enormous,” he said, gripping her hand a bit tighter as he looked around them. “How are we supposed to find our way around?”
***
“I think if we walk straight or follow some kids, we’ll find...something?” Phoebe said a little lamely, then laughed a bit as she looked up at him. “Quidditch first, then potions?” Even though it wasn’t quite what he’d been looking for, Phoebe wanted to show him a little flying. Maybe they could even swing a lesson.
***
Poe laughed, figuring it didn’t really matter if they got lost. They’d eventually find their way back where they needed to be or someone would help them out. “How about whichever we find first?” he countered.
A voice startled him just then. “Might I be of assistance?”
When Poe turned, he found himself face to face with what was clearly a ghost and he glanced back at Phoebe with some alarm.
***
Phoebe blinked in surprise when they turned and found a ghost talking to them, then gave a little laugh as she squeezed Poe’s hand. “Um, sure. Can you tell us where the Quidditch pitch is? Or direct us there?”
As he nodded graciously and turned to start gliding, she leaned over to whisper to Poe, “It’s okay. They have...resident ghosts. Just go with it.”
***
The ghost bowed his transparent head and swept out a spectral arm. “Right this way,” he said, floating in front of them so he could lead them there.
Poe’s confused alarm must have been obvious in his expression since Phoebe immediately leaned over to reassure him. He managed to smile a little at her words and followed the ghost to a large open space outside the castle.
“This looks a little like a soccer field,” he remarked once the ghost had left them. “Except with those big rings instead of a net.”
***
She grinned as she looked around the pitch, then nodded at Poe. “I think that’s a good way to look at it. And it’s played up in the sky...on those.” Phoebe pointed at a group of students that stood nearby straddling brooms, then gave another quiet laugh as they lifted into the air.
“Want to try it?”
***
“Absolutely,” Poe said. It wouldn’t be the same as flying in a ship, but it was better than nothing. “You going to try too?”
He hoped she would.
***
“I can already levitate, but this? Most definitely,” she said, laughing lightly before gently tugging him over to the brooms so they could get all set up. This was going to be a fun day and she was glad they’d come.
