WHO Bruce & Diana Wayne WHAT Discussing some bad news WHEN This afternoon WHERE Their home WARNINGS Discussion of genetic diseases in relation to babies? idk it's not gonna be light and fluffy STATUS Closed | Incomplete
The monthly checkups were routine for her pregnancy and Diana had gotten more comfortable with them as time went on and nothing really seemed to be an issue. She was excited for their daughter to join their family, even if they hadn't necessarily planned her. They did love her, of course, so the nursery was mostly finished and they already had a name picked out. Everything was progressing perfectly up until today's appointment. Diana had told Bruce not to worry, it was only a follow up, after all, so she'd gone by herself. That had been a bit of a mistake, given the news she received. The doctor had stressed that their daughter would be able to be carried to term, but what her life would look like was so unknown that the doctor couldn't feasibly predict what challenges they might face. This disease - some name she couldn't possibly hope to pronounce and barely heard through the ringing in her ears - presented differently in every case, so it was impossible to know until she was born. Even then, they would likely just have to wait and manage symptoms as they came up.
The doctor had given her a few moments to collect herself and process the information he'd given her. He'd mentioned there was another person in Madison Valley, curiously enough, who had the same genetic disease. It usually presented only in men, he'd said, which was part of what made this case even more unpredictable. He couldn't tell her who the person was either, which she understood but was still upset about. Diana gathered her things and fled the office the moment he'd left her alone. She needed her husband. He'd find who this person was, and how it was possible for them both to have an extremely rare genetic disease.
She found him at home, as usual, and it was clear she was frazzled as she approached him. "We need to find someone."
