The 'terribly pessimistic' was said in such a way that made clear the words hadn't come from him. Nor had they come from a single person. He had lost count of the number of times he had been judged for his world view.
It didn't bother him that he was viewed a certain way for being a cynic. He was yet to be proven wrong. Enjolras came the closest, and that came only from the way he could view the world. He loved to see the hope his friend could hold. His faith that things could be better. There was a light in him Grantaire had never found in himself.
"On that, we are in agreement." He considered his empty glass for a moment. "With that in mind," he gestured wordlessly in the direction of the drinks table. "Thanks for the bavarder, it was...enlightening."
