"I'm actually toning it down, too. Drugs don't work on me. Neither does sugar, alcohol, or pretty much anything which you can ingest, inject, or otherwise stick into your body to try to change your metabolic rate. My cells are in a constant state of motion. Sitting still is harder for me than most humans or other mutants. I can't do it for too long. I can break the sound barrier easier than I can sit still for ten minutes."
The world was a slug compared to the way Peter moved through life. Everything was slow, slower, slowest while he was always stuck on full-speed ahead whether he wanted to be or not. His mutation wasn't something he could completely turn off the way some mutants could. There were mutants who had to focus to make their abilities work and Peter had always thought they must not enjoy it as much as mutants whose abilities simply were like himself or his sister Wanda.
Pushing his goggles up onto his forehead, he asked, "Do you miss your werewolf boyfriend? I miss mine. He went back to wherever he was before he came here. Or the Dome sent him away. I don't know. I guess it depends on how you want to think about it or look at it or whatever."
