He chuckled and shook his head. "Nah, not quite like that. We don't investigate Marines unless they're the victim of a crime. Or the perpetrator," he explained. It was never easy to investigate a fellow Marine, but Gibbs would do whatever was necessary to find answers for the victims and their families. People deserved that much.
He inclined his head at her thanks. It was never a particularly comfortable thing for him, since he was doing what was right, what he had been called to do, but he understood that it made some people feel better to say it.
