Gibbs & Lydia
Anyone else, Lydia probably wouldn't have cared, but the annoying thing about how she felt about Gibbs was that she did care that they couldn't just stand around and talk. They couldn't just be friends, acquaintances really, because it didn't feel right the same way something more than that did. And something more wasn't on the table for either of them, never would be.
It was frustrating and she knew better than to show it. She couldn't let the fondness in his voice get to her or make her do anything stupid. Not again. So she just smiled, too much of her own affection definitely in it, and waved him off.
At least she could be sure he would follow through and make sure she didn't have to. It was better for both of them.
