She'd be a liar if she were to say she wasn't disappointed he didn't immediately ask her to dance, but she knew it was for the best. Despite everything, she definitely wasn't looking to start anything with him, not even just a something serious she wasn't looking at all, liked them older but within reason, and there had to be a line somewhere between what they kept trying to do and what they wanted.
"That's more like it," she said approvingly, not a flicker of disappointment showing in her face. "Don't make me go right to her to make it happen." She chose not to make comment toward her own evening, really didn't want to say that she was there without a date and wasn't really interested in dancing with her colleagues in-laws or anything.
At best she might drag Allison's guy into entertaining her for a little while but even that wasn't appealing. She couldn't very well say that the only person that appealed was someone she didn't even want in the first place.
