"Oh, I've already met my share of them. Didn't take long." Mutants, demons, and now...whatever this guy was. It was enough to make the craziness that had been his own life the last year or so actually feel normal by comparison, which was saying something.
"What makes you say that?" Mike asked curiously. "That there's someone in charge?" With all the power involved, all the impossibility, they could just as easily be dealing with something that wasn't sentient. "Even predators need some peace from time to time, I would have thought." Especially if he was worried about letting metaphorical monsters out.
"Here?" That was a loaded question. "Nothing like I did back home. The biggest thing I have to worry about here is probably boredom." His whole life had been his work. Now, that was gone. And given the unfairness of this place, he couldn't even find a close substitute.
