Ariel was kind of glad to be back in Madison Valley, although it was definitely a bummer that people were so sad. She still had Frank and Riddick and Star and she'd made a new friend in Crowley, so that was good. In an effort to help cheer people up, Ariel decided to walk around town when it was bright out. There were so many people which actually had the added benefit of showing her which places were really popular. She'd already gone in a few stores to see what they were like and to try to understand why they were so busy. Some stores were easier to tell than others, like the music store. She'd liked that one because there were magic headbands that went over your ears and played music! Different ones played different music so she'd tried all of them. One of the employees had to escort her out though when she tried to listen to someone else's magic headband. They hadn't been using them, but apparently it wasn't one of the store's magic headbands.
Ariel just humphed and moved on. She'd have someone take her again so she wouldn't get in trouble for not knowing how humans did things. It was definitely frustrating that she couldn't talk and she felt like she had to rely on everyone else to get her point across. The phone box was cool for sure, but it just took so much time sometimes. She much preferred miming it if the other person understood quickly what she was getting at. Some humans weren't very good at guessing at all.
She found another store that was really busy and it looked like it had a mermaid on the front! Excited, she burst through the door and started to look around. Most people had turned to look at her because of the noise she was making but Ariel didn't pay them any mind. She was more curious about the fancy cups and machines that were on display. It was definitely crowded though and she was still learning to be more aware of her surroundings. Ariel accidentally bumped into someone and then got her feet tangled up on a stick and fell on her butt. That hurt and she frowned as she looked up at the person she'd bumped into.
Ariel knew it was partly her fault, but she held her hand out to him to ask for a bit of assistance in getting back to her feet.
