Five years in Madison Valley meant that Sara was not unfamiliar with the idea of waking up in a strange place. As far as strange places went, this one was pretty nice. It looked like a fancy hotel, possibly in some kind of tropical location, so she wasn’t going to complain. Of course, given that they were dealing with the dome, it was also entirely possible it was a tropical location that was overrun with zombies, demons, or anti-vaxxers.
She got out of bed and walked over to the window and was surprised to realize that she was on a boat. As long as they didn’t have to deal with evil mermaids or man-eating guppies, this would probably end up being one of the more pleasant surprises from the dome.
It was only when she turned away from the window that she realized there was another bed in the room and said bed contained a person. She recognized her roommate immediately though and groaned inwardly. This was going to prove to be an interesting experience. Sharing a confined space with someone she was both highly attracted to and trying to pretend she didn’t have feelings for was going to be one hell of a test of Sara’s resolve.
After considering her options, she went and sat down on the edge of his bed. “Leonard,” she said softly. “The bus is going to be here soon.”
Sleep was a constant battle for Leonard Snart. He'd gone without it long enough to give in to the need for pharmaceutical assistance, taking an over-the-counter sleep agent to get a brief reprieve from consciousness. Nothing would have woken him before the medication wore off. Leonard had been prepared to wake up confused and disoriented as a result of the sedative.
Leonard hadn't prepared himself to wake up to Sara Lance sitting on his bed talking about a bus---or for his bed to not be his bed.
Quirking a brow, he asked, "What bus? I feel as if I should say something clever, but I took sleep medication last night. There's no way I can manage clever before coffee. Where are we? Why are you here? Did I win a lottery of some kind? Feel free to start explaining at any point in time. I'm going to start seeking caffeinated salvation."
Pajamas featuring short sleeves were the only concession to the heat Snart had allowed himself. He didn't like sleeping without being fully clothed. His feet were bare, but nude feet were far less improper than a nude chest or naked legs. It took him a moment to sway to his feet beside his bed. Berth? Were they on a ship?
"I think we're on a ship. Looks nice. I may not complain. We're roomies?"
A footlocker at the end of the bed opened with a hinged lid to reveal his day clothes. Snart collected a shirt, pants, socks, and his boots before closing the lid again. He scanned the room for a possible bathroom. Would they have to deal with communal bathing? The thought was enough to have him shuddering with disgust.
"Please tell me we aren't being relegated to communal baths?"
Sara chuckled at his response. Even after all of their adventures on the Wave Rider, she couldn’t remember seeing him this disoriented and it was amusing. And endearing. Yeah, this was going to be tough.
“We are on a ship and, yes, apparently we’re roommates,” she confirmed. “We have our own bathroom though. And there’s a balcony with a nice view.”
For a change, she hadn’t slept naked the previous night and was glad for that, though her very short shorts and tank top didn’t leave much to the imagination and would possibly scandalize Snart. “I can put on a pot of coffee,” she added, figuring there was no harm in being nice.
"You sold me on the place when you said 'we're roommates' and you stole my heart completely when you told me we have our own bathroom. If you produce fresh coffee? I'll marry you as soon as I can find a ring."
Snart wasn't joking either. He knew if there were ever to be someone he could imagine spending the rest of his life with, then Sara Lance would be that person. They had enough in common to make them companionable yet enough differences to keep life between them exciting. It wasn't completely out of the ordinary for him to propose marriage in exchange for coffee either.
Mick was probably traumatized to find himself in possession of Snart's remembrance ring. There had been more than a few dozen times when Snart had told him they were getting married as soon as it was legal. After gay marriage was legalized? Mick was suspiciously absent for a solid week. He didn't show up again until Snart told him in a very irritable voicemail he was going to freeze him to his bed when he found him if he didn't get his ass back home.
It was the work of minutes to dress in the cabin bathroom. Leonard took care of his morning constitutional and washed his hands before sliding back out to put his sleepwear into the foot locker at the base of the bed.
"You're taking this new abduction very well. Have you already snooped around and found coffee before waking me? I know I look terribly appealing while asleep so I'll forgive you if you felt the need to watch for a while. I will feel betrayed if you haven't managed to find me coffee."
It was a good thing that Snart disappeared into the bathroom immediately after making that joke because he had no way of knowing what a sore spot it was for Sara and she needed a minute to remind herself of that. She wouldn’t even let herself consider it was anything besides a joke. The last time someone had proposed to her, it had been Sam and he’d been under the influence of the dome. It nearly destroyed their relationship before it even started. Marriage was not part of her life plan.
Instead, she busied herself getting a pot of coffee ready, glad that their cabin included one of those tiny coffee pots that you could only seem to find in hotels. It would probably be relatively shitty coffee, but it would at least give them some caffeine to start their day.
Sara hadn’t bothered changing or even looking for other clothes while Snart was in the bathroom. “This isn’t the first time I’ve been through this,” she said with a shrug. “You get used to it after a while.”
