WHO: Cosette Fauchelevent and OPEN WHAT: Thinking modern people need manners WHEN: This evening WHERE: Downtown WARNINGS: TBD STATUS: Open/Ongoing
Cosette was, much to her surprise, actually getting used to being in Madison Valley. She still missed papa and Marius desperately, but she was also adapting to this new and strange place. Cars no longer frightened her as she walked down the street. She wasn't as afraid to go out by herself, at least during the day. And she was seriously considering buying some of the more...modern clothes because her dresses were almost unbearably hot in the summer heat. She wasn't sure if she could wear pants - that might still be too far for her - but there were some long and loose looking skirts that looked terribly comfortable. She just had to work up the courage to try one on. And she would...just not tonight.
She was on her way home from the library with a few more books. She was learning as quickly as she could and trying very hard to understand this world. But it took a long time to catch up on almost two hundred years of history and culture, and she was still very much behind. She also had included a novel or two, just to rest her mind after the harder reading she was subjecting herself to.
Hurrying down the street, she came around a corner only to have a young man slam right into her, causing her to drop the handful of books all over the ground. She gasped in horror, fully expecting the young man to help her pick up the books. Instead, he simply looked at her in disgust, gave her a rude hand gesture and yelled at her to watch where she was going before continuing off again. Tears in her eyes at the despicable treatment, Cosette crouched down and began to gather her books on her own. It would never cease to surprise her how rude people in this time could be.
