Money wasn't an issue since taking the work doing construction with Shadow. Riddick had few needs which he couldn't meet on his own without currency, too. There was a free shower and bath available to him any time he needed it at the apartment he was given on arrival. His clothes were sufficient to meet his standards with enough changes to get him through a week. Food was something he tended to splurge on since there were more options available to him in Madison Valley than any other place he'd ever been incarcerated.
Riddick liked the all-hours store where everything seemed to be available. The lighting was Hell on his eyes, but he thought it was worth it with his goggles in place.
Convenience was worth a little discomfort. Riddick would prefer to get out of the store faster than be more comfortable. He got a couple packs of chocolate bars, a big bag of marshmallows, and two boxes of graham crackers. Fire was easy to manage with his skills and the park had no problem with him as long as he put his temporary camp out properly before leaving the scene. There was always a good time for s'mores from what Riddick knew. He doubted Ariel had tried them before so hopefully this would be a fun excursion for her.
Putting his stock into a backpack which fit over his blades, Riddick made his way to Ariel's window via rooftops and fire escapes. He landed in a crouch on the fire escape outside her window. Riddick pecked at the window with his knuckles. It was only just after full dark. Ariel wouldn't likely be asleep, especially given Riddick had spoken with her about going out for a bit of fun with him. It was interesting to imagine he'd gotten permission from a girl's guardian to take her to the park for sweets around a fire.
"Ready for an adventure, Ariel?"
Riddick smiled at her as he offered to help her step through her window to join him on the landing of the fire escape. They weren't too far up, but sometimes people were afraid of heights in a really weird way Riddick couldn't understand. He decided to reassure her as a just in case measure.
"We're safe on this set of stairs. Don't look down if you're afraid of heights. You think you can climb down yourself or do you want me to carry you? I figure you can put those new shoes of yours to work once we hit the ground if you're not sure about going down the stairs."
It didn't matter one way or the other to Riddick. He'd carry her if he needed to or he'd make sure she was safe climbing down on her own if that was her preference.
