sometimes Chris was struck by how absolutely and utterly mundane his life was in Madison Valley. Okay, alright, sure. It was still plenty special and strange: Guardian duties for Jill, his particularly odd friendship with Nyssa, the rotating door of people knew, a couple other things, but his day to day life? The things he did overall? Pretty damn mundane. This was the first actual, normal job he'd had since... well, it'd been a long damn time, he could tell you that. And occasionally did, depending on who you were.
Grocery shopping was one of those mundane things, and while it wasn't one of the ones that he enjoyed? It was one of the ones that he could more or less ignore at the same time as he was doing it, and he could handle the grocery shopping after taking a shift with Jill which was what he was doing now. He was grateful for the routine of it all, for the boring, for the chance to seem as though he were completely normal.
The gun he carried thanks to the concealed carry permit and that he hadn't taken off because he hadn't gone home yet said otherwise.
As he stood by the deli counter, waiting mostly patiently, he was still keeping at least vague attention on everything else going on. Old habits died hard and honestly? At this point? He didn't think this particular one ever would. A step back to involve a woman's kid weaving through the people standing around him made him step into someone's path. "Shit, sorry," he apologized.
