Who: Sara Lance & Kenny McCormick What: Hanging out Where: Verdant When: Monday evening Warnings: references to adult activity/FTB Status: complete gdoc
Kenny didn't really care for alcohol nor did he go to bars or clubs very often. Well, he did go to the strip club and probably still would even if he wasn't the owner. But he usually didn't go to such places and if he did, he usually went to something like Lou's. Certainly not something like Verdant. The only time he did go was if there was an event going on, like karaoke night or something.
So why was he at Verdant at the moment? Boredom, pretty much. He felt like doing something different tonight and decided the club was a good place to start. If not, he could always just go find something else to do. For now, he was just going to have a couple drinks and see what happens.
***
Working at a bar meant that Sara didn’t get to experience as much of the night life, such as it was, that Madison Valley had to offer. She’d been to the strip club a few times though and recognized Kenny as one of the folks who took over running it after Laura left.
“Hey, you get tired of looking at naked hot people?” she joked as she went over to take his order.
*** Kenny scoffed a little. "Nah. Who could get bored of that?" Definitely not him. Usually when he worked at someplace, he ended up getting bored and had even quit jobs and find new ones. But working at the strip club? Not as boring. He wouldn't have took over ownership of it if he didn't like it.
"I'm just seeing if there's any hot naked people here." Actually, he just wanted to check this place out, but if that somehow happened, he wouldn't complain.
***
Sara laughed. “Hot people, yes. Sadly, not naked.” At least in the club proper. Occasionally there would be naked people in her office. Or in the DJ booth. Possibly some other locations when they weren’t open.
“I do hire attractive employees though.” At least half of whom she’d hooked up with. She probably wasn’t the best boss.
*** "Too bad, but plenty of time to see someone naked." Hopefully anyway he'd get to see someone without clothes on tonight. Maybe he'd actually visit Verdant more often if so. He wasn't sure why else he would. It wasn't like he was much of a drinker, so that reason was out.
"And yeah, you do." Lydia certainly was one of them. He couldn't remember who else worked here but he believed Sara when she said they were attractive as well. And if she wasn't the best boss for sleeping with some of them, then he wasn't either. He'd slept with a couple of his own employees himself.
"Their boss is pretty attractive as well."
***
“Flatterer,” Sara said with a grin. “Just for that, your first drink’s on me. What’ll you have?”
Kenny was a good looking guy and he had an air about him that he liked to have a good time. She was aware that he had some kind of weird thing that he couldn’t die or something, but that didn’t really phase her much.
*** "I can be," he replied with a grin of his own. He suppose it was true. He could be charming when he wanted to be. It wasn't his usual way but it worked for him sometimes. Luckily for him, most people he knew didn't mind if he said something offensive. Especially Ella, he was glad he could just be himself around her and not worry about hurting her feelings or some shit.
"I'll have a whiskey or whatever fuck people drink at bars," he said. "Or hell, surprise me. I don't care." He wasn't picky nor did he really care much what drink he got.
***
Since he didn’t care, Sara decided not to go for the top shelf liquor like she usually did when she was buying drinks for her friends. She figured he wouldn’t know the difference. “Here,” she said, setting a shot of whiskey and a frosted mug of beer in front of him. “A shot and a beer is pretty classic.”
She knew that he was of age, so she was a little surprised that he apparently wasn’t much of a drinker.
“Cheers,” she said, picking up the second shot glass that she’d filled and waiting for him to pick up his so she could tap them together before knocking back her shot.
*** He just didn't have the best experience with alcohol. His parents were alcoholics and it was also the reason why he was immortal in the first place. So he just wasn't a big fan of it, but he still drank on occasion.
"Can't go wrong with the classics. And thanks," he said, raising his glass against hers and drinking his shot. He didn't really care if it was the cheap kind. Honestly, that was more what he was used to anyway. His parents drank a lot, sure, but they were too poor to afford anything other than cheap beer.
***
Sara smirked as she set down her empty shot glass. “So, how’s everything going over at your club?” she asked. “That was a hell of a party you guys threw last month.” She hadn’t noticed Kenny there, but assumed he was in attendance. That wasn’t the kind of thing she would think he’d miss.
*** "It's going good," Kenny replied with a shrug. He would never admit it but he had been worried about running it when he first took over. Thankfully, Sombra was there to help, as well as everyone else. It was definitely a team effort and he was grateful for all his employees.
"And it was pretty awesome, wasn't it?" he grinned. "But I didn't know you were there. I would've said hi." And possibly do more than just say hi.
***
“I was… busy,” Sara said with a knowing smirk. “It was fun.”
She assumed that Kenny had been similarly busy. There had been a lot of people there and most of them seemed to be really into the theme of the night. Of course, she’d ended up going home and sharing a bed with Leonard without sex, which was actually a far more intimate activity for people like them, but she was trying not to think about that too much.
“Should do that kind of thing more often.”
*** "We definitely plan on it." At least, Kenny did. He wasn't the best at coming up with ideas for events, but that was why he had other people to help with that. If any of his employees had ideas and if he liked them (which most of the time he did), he was up for doing it.
"And same. Took a few girls into my office." He paused and took a drink, glancing over at Sara. "How many people have you've taken into your office?" he asked. He was the kind of person who was actually quite observant. He just had a feeling Sara was like him in regards to taking people to her office and other places in the club.
***
The question made Sara laugh. “A few,” she said. Probably more than a few, but she didn’t really keep track. Mostly she was amused that Kenny pegged her so well.
“Would you like a tour?” she asked after a moment.
*** It was one of the things about being quiet, he supposed. He just noticed things most people didn't. He was good at reading body language and things like that. Or maybe he just had good instincts or maybe it really was because he did the same and saw it in others. Either way, he had a hunch and he was right. "I feel like it's a bit more than a few," he grinned.
He paused for a moment before shrugging. "Yeah, sure. I'd love one."
***
Sara grinned and checked to make sure none of the other patrons needed anything before she slipped out from behind the bar to take Kenny to her office. Her staff wouldn’t be surprised that she disappeared for a little while and they could handle running things for a little while so she could indulge in some fun.
