WHO Violet Parr & John Wick WHATDate night Sharing some wine WHEN Friday evening WHERE Violet's Apartment WARNINGS TBD, probably none STATUS Closed | Incomplete
Violet was kind of nervous about having John over to share a bottle of wine and some cheese. They were friends, absolutely, but wine and cheese? That wasn't really something that friends of the opposite sex did necessarily, but then again, John had admitted to not being well versed in maintaining friendships. She reminded herself of that as she got dressed, and yet she still went through about seven different outfits.
A dress seemed like too much, too date-y, so she'd swapped it out for a skirt and blouse. That had been nixed for much the same reasons. Violet tried jeans next, which she thought was the right choice, but then trying to find a top to go with it wasn't easy at all. The first top she'd chosen was too low cut so that had been nixed for something more billowy. Halfway through doing her makeup, she got fed up with the sleeves so she had to change to something that wouldn't be in the way the whole time. There was a moment where she thought about texting Death for advice but then she was afraid that was treading too much into 'date' territory so she chose to muddle through it even still. A few more tops later and she settled on a nice shirt that wasn't quite a tee but it wasn't super formal either. More like something she'd wear if she was going to maybe have dinner with her parents for one of their birthdays if she was at home. That was a little like what she and John were doing. Maybe. Nothing really quite fit when it came to him, but Violet didn't mind that. It was part of what made him interesting.
She'd picked up a few different kinds of cheeses and crackers from the grocery store after consulting with one of the employees as to what worked best with white wine. Violet even bought a deck of cards and two movies just to have the option, though they were squirreled away, out of sight. She wanted to be well prepared to show John some of the things that friends did together so that way he could take that knowledge and apply it with other people he might have met or would possibly meet in Madison Valley. Or at least with his ward, Belle. Although it was kind of amusing to think of him and Death playing Go Fish over a glass of wine. It just seemed so out of character for the two of them and yet absolutely perfect.
When the knock came on her door, Violet opened it with a slightly nervous but no less warm smile. "Hi," she greeted as she stepped aside to let him in. "I know it's not very far, but I hope it was pleasant enough coming over." She assumed that he was coming from his apartment, which was only a few floors away. It made her feel better, knowing he was so close. On the off chance that something happened, she knew she'd be safe. Their whole building would be.
