Who: Tamatoa & Open What: The (not so) giant crab's arrival Where: Downtown When: Saturday Evening, June 1st Warning: TBD Status: Open and Incomplete
It was pain that pulled him from his deep dreamless slumber. The unexpected pain that was coming from his back...the back that was now flesh and bone, instead of his shiny gold/trinket adorned shell. The crab had been trapped and abandoned; left to rot for all eternity since even with all his immense strength the giant crab hadn't been able to right himself. Not with the weight of the gold and shiny treasures added to the scales. Now though, now Tamatoa felt so many odd sensations at once. Pain of the hard pavement he was laying atop of. The strange feeling of his lack of an exoskeleton certainly confused the ancient monster as well. Not to mention having fingers where his claws belonged.
Still it was the lack of the overwhelming weight that drew his notice and, for the first time in what felt life forever, he tried to sit up once more. This time a gasp of shock fell from his lips as the former monstrous crab found himself free to move again. No longer bound by the constrictive burden of his vast treasure. However as he sat up those eyes of his...the ones now nestled within a skull instead of resting on eyestalks...drifted to the sight of his new form. Oh there was a flicker of dark rage the bubbled up as the crab found himself mentally cursing Maui for this latest development. After all that mini little semi demi god was the only one around that had the power to change shape. So as Tamatoa's gaze looked over his humanoid figure; noting with dissatisfaction that he was had gone from being a decapod to now only having a single leg. Well two if that hunk of a gold plated prosthetic leg was to be counted, which he clearly didn't count at all. However bizarre the whole affair was, the monster found himself glad to be free to move at the very least. Sure it took some effort to rise and stand. Namely because trying to balance on one good leg, and a fake one, was a far cry from the natural grace his old form had possessed. Yet with some effort Tamatoa was standing upright at last, using a hand on the building beside where he stood to keep from falling over.
That slight chill in the air had shiver racing across the man's spine, though the fact that he was stark naked did not seem to register to the ancient being at all. Granted while most of his treasure that once clung to his back was nowhere to be seen, the crab felt a bit better when he realized he was still wearing a few shiny necklaces and rings. Gold and gems sparkled in the light, and just the feel of the cool metal against his skin helped soothe Tamatoa a little. The fact that Maui wasn't already here, mocking and laughing at the former crab's fate was all manner of puzzling. Especially since the crab could feel how weak he was now. Oh there was still a bit of strength to be found in his new form; more than what a human possessed. Still presently in this body, he knew he'd likely not fair well against the demi god. However instead of waiting around the ancient monster decided to seek out something to eat. Especially since he had been stuck on his back for so very long, and he couldn't recall just how long it had been since he had eaten.
Before he got far though the crab found himself coming face to face with a small group of humans who called themselves the welcoming committee. Their looks of surprise were noted as they stared at the bare man before them. Still with haste the strange laptop case was handed over; along with a phone device, keys to a domicile, and an even stranger piece of plastic called a debit card were all handed over to the archaic crab. The thought of just eating the humans had crossed Tamatoa's mind, especially since he was starving. However the lack of his claws, his giant size, and the fact that they all seemed a bit wary of the way he was studying them as if they were prey...it all added up to him deciding to try and get some fish instead.
Thankfully after briskly pointing out the obvious lack of clothing, and being handed over a change of clothes, the humans pointed him in the direction of a place that served fresh fish. So with a growl the monster dismissed the welcome committee; then took a moment or three to try on the articles of clothing; called a coat, a tee shirt, jeans, and some random things called sneakers. Dressed at last Tamatoa slowly started to make his way down the sidewalk. In search of food first. After that would come his revenge on Maui. But food was a must.
Oh the strange looks he received from others as he walked was curious to be sure. No one looked his way with fear or disgust. If anything a few eyes seemed to fixate on his features and to his shiny jewelry as well. Truth be told, beyond mindless stupid fish...well none of the humans, gods, or monsters back home ever looked at him like this. Some might have coveted his wealth, but the way a few people looked his way now had the narcissistic crustacean smiling slightly as he realized that this new human body must not have been as hideous as he first thought. Okay so maybe all humans paled in comparison to his former beauty, at least that was what Tamatoa thought. Still to know that Maui hadn't doubly cursed him by changing him into an ugly human...well it raised his spirits a tad. It even had that wolfish smile of his growing as the now human-ish monster casually strolled to seek out some much need food. Humming a little melody to himself as he stride grew more sure and steady with every new step. After all, as bad as things were being stuck like this, at least Tamatoa was free once more.
