Briar & Cassie BR
He didn't like that she was in the mood she was in, the kind where she scowled and grumped at him for something that meant nothing. If he'd grown up with a birthday, maybe things would have been different and he'd have cared, but for him it just wasn't a part of his life and besides his sisters, until Cassie, there'd been no one he'd have wanted to celebrate one with anyway.
He got it, though. He'd been in a mood when he'd first come here, lost all the people he cared about in the whole world, parted from Rosethorn for the first time since they'd met and they'd become each other's and it had been hard. He'd been reluctant to get close to anyone again, for fear of losing them too.
Briar just smiled softly and leaned in to press a kiss to Cassie's forehead, a gesture meant to be platonic and meant to be affectionate and soothing, before sitting down at her feet. "S'alright," he assured. "I know what's goin' on with you."
