Sally slipped into work feeling ultra self conscious. She bound her hair up in a knot, trying not to think about what happened the other night. It was hard, though, because she couldn't stop thinking about it.
She'd never had sex before of any kind. She'd never kissed anyone, either. Evie opened her eyes up a lot of things she wasn't sure how to process yet.
Sally nervously sat down at her work table, spreading out her project. Though for the first time ever she was making mistakes, stabbing herself with her needles more often than ever. She sighed, thankful she didn't bleed, it really feel it until she sewed herself to the top and had to unsew up fix it.
She was in the middle of doing that when Evie came in.
Evie wasn't the least bit nervous about showing up for work the next day, though she did realize that maybe she shouldn't have gone quite as far as she had with Sally. They did have to work together and the last thing she wanted was for her blue companion to get emotionally attached in the wrong way. That wasn't to say she didn't want repeat performances, either. She most certainly did. It was just more important to her that their business relationship continued on as it had. In her mind, the best way to do that was to just act like everything was fine and nothing had changed.
She arrived fashionably late and mildly hungover the next day. School had been skipped in favor of coffee and more sleep, plus she'd taken advantage of the empty house and soaked in the tub for a couple of hours to relax. Evie pushed her sunglasses up to the top of her head once she was in their workroom and inclined her head toward Sally as she made her way over to her station.
"Ugh sorry I'm late," she said, well aware that she'd left Sally on her own without any real direction. "Are you working on the repairs we need to make or the new costumes?" Either was fine, she just wanted to know where to start for herself.
Sally didn’t know how to handle any of this. It wasn’t that she wanted to be awkward or anything, but she just never had any situation like this. She’d never had a day after. Or anything! It was hard for her to be anything but a little nervous about it all. She smiled though as Evie came in.
“It’s fine, do not even worry.” she said honestly, then nodded, “Repairs, first. Figured they were most necessary.” she settled back to redo what she’d done. This time without sewing her own flesh into the work. She was a little nervous, okay?
“How are you this afternoon? Besides, ah, hungover looking?” she teased gently.
It seemed to her like Sally was a little out of sorts in a way, but Evie wasn't so self-absorbed to think it was entirely about her. She decided to play it cool for a bit longer just to see if her blue friend would give away any sort of clues about how she was feeling. After how direct she'd been last night, she wasn't so sure it was the right approach to take now. Better to wait and see.
She settled in at her sewing machine, the latest costume still there from the night before. It never mattered how hungover she was, how tired she was, how pissed off she was, sitting down in front of her sewing machine always made her feel better.
"Definitely in need of some creative therapy. We sure do know how to throw one hell of a party. I ditched classes to sleep in and soak in the tub," she replied as she got herself set up to finish the corset top. "How about you? Feeling alright?" Evie glanced up to gauge the reaction.
Sally looked up at her, and smiled faintly. It was mostly because of Evie but she wasn't going to just blurt it out either. She smiled gently and nodded a bit. "creative therapy is great." she agreed as she set her pins down and leaned back to look at her friend. Carefully weighing a few things in her mind.
"The Den really does know how to throw a party." she laughed a bit, "Totally a party place, I think." she ran her hand over her hair and smiled again. "I'm alright, tired, a little confused but overall not bad." she was sheepish in her reply. She didn't mind it, but it had been different.
