Fridays weren't his day off, but with extra help, he was permitted the evening off. He would set dinner for the Shelter residents of course, making a one-dish meal with written directions so the older residents would just need to heat in the oven. That way everyone would be fed, and if need be he would clean up early the next morning.
He felt the need to be around people that evening for dinner. Lou' tavern was one of the rougher places to eat, but it was also comfortable and there was an openness about the place he appreciated. People were there to relax and unwind, and after working in the shelter he could appreciate that.
Joshua found a seat at bar, asking for the seasonal beer on tap. There was a woman who took the stool next to him, and he raised his glass to her in a small, easy salute.
