Lance was still asking, and Molly was really, really making him work for it. It hadn’t been cool, asking her to prom like he’d actually meant it, like he actually liked her when he was just a dumb clueless boy who had no clue that she liked him. So if he wanted to go to prom with her, he had to earn it. And in the meantime, she was going whether or not he did, and that meant she needed a dress.
With Summer gone, there were very few people she wanted to take shopping with her. A list that got even shorter when she thought about people who were likely to try to parent her dress choices. Since kind of accidentally letting Veronica turn into her mom and definitely heading that way with Kara, too, though the closeness Molly had with Bucky definitely made her more resistant there, they were out, and the friends her own age were too. She needed a more experienced opinion.
So that had left her with her aunts, pretty much. And Darcy had been the one to get singled out, so she was the one Molly had turned up to and demanded company to look at dresses.
“I was going to get that Evie girl to make my dress again this year,” she mused while they perused the options, “but I decided I think I want something more...normal this year.” Since it was the last one, all the little things were important to her.
