Dating was weird. Nice. But weird.
Not just dating. Normal dating. Or as normal as a blind man with hyperactive senses trained in martial arts dating a magician with some goddess like tendencies could be. Here in Madison Valley, he could actually focus on his personal life. He had a career that he didn't have to worry about constantly. No lies among his friends. People knew who he was and what he could do and not only did he still have people who trusted and supported him, but he didn't have to keep those two sides separate.
Even if sometimes rooftops happened. Old habits died hard.
No rooftops tonight, though. He'd invited Julia over for a quiet, intimate dinner. Just the two of them. And then, well... They'd see what happened. Matt had ordered dinner in, because despite Spike's nagging, he didn't intend to kill his girlfriend with his cooking. In New York, he might have ordered Indian or Thai. Here, American-Chinese would have to do. The lights were low, not that it mattered to him one bit, but Julia might like it. Mood lighting or something. And music played low in the background, some soft rock station he'd found. Madison Valley wasn't exactly the "hip" radio scene.
He was just plating the dinners he'd gotten when the knock came at the door.
