Diego liked his job well enough. He liked the people he worked with enough that it wasn't the worst thing in the world to hang out with them. He mostly kept to himself, or at least didn't engage in conversation over much, but that didn't seem to be an problem.

He was headed out on his lunch break now, his stomach rumbling while he walked. He was thinking about Hinkles, a good cheap meal that would fill his belly. He would never eat such garbage back home, where he carefully monitored what he ate. But here? He threw caution to the wind and decided to try new things.

For the most part he wasn't disappointed. He was, however, distracted and very nearly plowed into someone on the sidewalk. His hands went up, catching her by the shoulders to prevent slamming into her. "Sorry," he muttered, dropping his hands. He'd probably assault someone who touched him like that, but it had been hands on shoulders or he'd have plowed her over.

Rey had well and truly settled into life here in Madison. She had a routine and a job, she had friends and things she never would have thought she'd have time for back home. This place was a chance to have things that seemed impossible to her, a chance she'd decided she wasn't going to pass up.

Work hadn't been very busy today so she'd told the guys she was going to head out to pick up lunch for them all. She definitely didn't mind getting food for them all, especially not if it meant she got to go for a walk and enjoy some fresh air. She wanted to enjoy the slightly cooler weather while it was here, she knew most people preferred summer but she definitely liked the cooler climate while it was around.

She was considering where to go to grab food, looking down at her phone screen when someone's hands found her shoulders. Immediately she tensed up, half expecting to have to fight someone but then she heard the person apologize and she looked up to smile at the stranger. "It's okay, I wasn't paying attention either so I have as much reason to say sorry as you do," she said. Looking at him she realized she didn't recognize him and she didn't want to be rude. "I'm Rey, I don't think I've seen you around before."

"Diego," he told her. "Recent arrival. Within the last month or so." More like a month and a half, but he wasn't being exact. He hadn't been in Madison long, was the point.

"I'm not usually so distracted. This place fucks with my head," he told her. Usually he was acutely aware of his surroundings. He never almost plowed into someone on the sidewalk. That just wasn't his way. He was more aware than that, more observant.

"You ain't from around here, are you?" That was one area instinct was fairly reliable. He could tell the difference between natives and transplants.

"Nice to meet you," she replied, smiling a little more at him. It sometimes wasn't easy to keep track of all the arrivals but she tried to, clearly she'd failed recently.

"It certainly does that," she agreed. It had taken her a while to get used to things here but now she liked to think she took it all in her stride. And it wasn't like anyone had gotten hurt or anything.

"Nope, I'm not. I'm from Jakku," she told him. Rey knew not everyone knew where that was but most seemed to be able to figure out she was on about another planet when she mentioned it. "But I've been here for a year now so I'm used to the way things are here."

"Jakku? Never heard of it," Diego said. He wasn't exactly a geography buff. He'd been more interested in weapons and the history of wars and such. Geography didn't interest him, so he wasn't phased by not recognising the name of the place where she was from.

"That in Europe or something?" It made sense to him it would be in another country. He never considered another planet. He didn't really have the scope of experience to think planets right away.

"Not many people here have," she told him. Not at all surprised that he hadn't heard of it. She hadn't heard of a lot of places that people in Madison said they were from but she was learning as much as she could about Earth and different places on it.

"No, it's in a different galaxy. I'm not from Earth at all." She didn't see any reason to keep that fact hidden, there were people here from different worlds and it wasn't exactly a secret.

	"Huh. Well. That's cool, I guess." He'd read comic books as a kid, and a lot of them were about characters from other planets. "You got any cool super powers?" That he knew from the comic books and personal experience, since he and his siblings were a team of superheroes there for a while. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"If you like sand because that's all Jakku really had." It really wasn't an exciting place to live. "I wouldn't call what I can do super powers but I suppose some people might." She never thought of using the Force like that but after having seen a few movies with superheroes in she could see how some might say what she could do was a super power.

"Same. I mean. I can throw knives. With precision." Unwavering. "I never miss," he added. It wasn't a boast. It was simple fact. He could manipulate the trajectory with a thought. "Pretty handy in a fight."

He could also hold his breath indefinitely, but he didn't consider that much of a super power. It would only be useful if he was tossed to the bottom of a lake or something.
