This was all Scarlett's fault. Her friend definitely hadn't meant to, but she'd mentioned that the questions seemed a lot like studying Islam and it just opened up a can of worms. Sort of. At least to Ariadne. Maybe she was overthinking things too much. She couldn't help it. Was this how it started? Asking questions, learning his faith, converting? She couldn't quite see herself converting to Islam and being as devout as he was. Though she could admit that she liked the consistency of it, of having something so inextricably linked to daily life. Even the rules that he lived by, she could see the intention behind them. Better still, she kind of liked the intention behind them.
She arrived at Amaar's office still thinking about all of these things. She'd brought coffee. She always tried to bring something whether it was coffee or tea or some sort of snack since she was going to be asking him questions. Normally, Ari did at least indulge in the pleasantries, but her brain was too focused and instead of saying hello and asking how he was, she said, "Do you think I'm studying Islam?"
