Tim wasn't nervous. He didn't get nervous. He prepped and researched so that he had a plan going in and contingencies for that plan should anything along the way go awry. It made a difference because it helped him keep a calm, cool head in the face of things not going according to plan. Such as the bread burning in the oven. That was not great, but fine. There was actual fresh bread from the bakery he'd gotten in preparation for being unable to make bread from scratch himself. Alfred had helped him cook the sauce, pasta was literally as easy as boiling water, and he'd gotten a wine recommendation from Diana (begrudgingly). He also had two different types of sodas, a cider, sparkling water, and filtered water if she wanted something other than wine. The table was set as if they were at a high end restaurant, since there was a salad course, fish course, and pasta course. Followed by dessert. Tim had tried his best to go all out and hoped she would appreciate it.
When she knocked on the door, he was definitely nervous. Tim called out, "I'm coming," as he walked towards his front door. He did take a brief moment to run his hand through his hair and straighten his tie - he'd told her it was a fancy birthday dinner and to dress up accordingly - before he opened the door for her. And boy did she deliver on the fancy dress. Tim was legitimately speechless for the moment.
"Hey. Happy Birthday," he greeted after a long moment of just staring at her. He stepped to the side to let her in but he didn't let her get very far. Once the door was shut behind them, Tim pulled her in for a lingering kiss. "You look...amazing." The word hardly did her justice.
