Who: Blake and Castiel. When: Thursday, April 11. What: Castiel brings home food. Where: Their home. Warnings: None. Status: Closed | Complete
Castiel was thoroughly enjoying his relationship with Blake. He loved the man more than he thought possible. He hadn't realized that he was able to love as a human loved, but he was grateful to find out that yes, he was. So that particular night, he decided to come home with a bouquet of flowers, white and red and purple, along with a plethora of Chinese food. He knew that Blake liked Chinese food, so he knew that it was a safe bet to bring it for him.
"Blake!" he called out when he entered the house. Through the door, even. "I have food for you." And flowers, but he didn't say that. "Lots and lots of food, really." He was slowly starting to learn how much food Blake could actually eat. Slowly. But he figured leftovers were always good.

"Be right there," Blake called from the bedroom. He'd taken a shower, and emerged with his hair wet. He wore only a pair of form fitting jeans, no shirt, no socks. He flashed a smile as he headed out to greet Cas, and came up short when he saw the flowers.
"You are amazing, you know that?" He resumed motion after a few seconds, walking over to Cas. He leaned in to kiss the angel as he took the flowers out of his hands. "There are beautiful, Cas."
***
Castiel returned the man's kiss, his hand running through Blake's wet hair once the flowers were taken from him. He offered him a small smile, "Sammy told me a while ago sometimes a person likes flowers." Of course, at the time, Sammy had been trying to teach Castiel how to get on a woman's good side. But he assumed that it would work for Blake as well. Blake was his boyfriend. So, he thought he might like flowers every once in a while.
Though it might have been Dean who had suggested the flowers. In that case, Dean was probably trying to tell Cas how to get into the woman's pants. Either way.
"I didn't know what color flowers you liked. So I got three."
***
"They're all gorgeous," Blake said. "But I think the purple ones are my favorite." He set the flowers on the counter, pulling a purple one free from the bundle. He held it out, rubbing it under Cas' chin.
"Sam's a smart guy." Blake grinned. He appreciated that the man sometimes gave Cas advice. He particularly liked when Cas surprised him with something like this. Flowers were definitely unexpected, and the best kind of surprise.
"It looks like you got enough food to feed a small army." Not that Blake was complaining. There would be plenty of leftovers for his lunches for a couple days.
***
"Sam is a smart guy," he agreed. "He's been around humans longer than I have, I tend to trust him when it comes to that." He trusted Sam with a lot, honestly. He trusted Sam with his life. He smiled slightly as Blake pulled out one of the purple ones, "I had to convince the florist that yes, I really wanted purple flowers." Not that it had been too difficult to do. The florist wanted to make money, after all.
He leaned in and kissed Blake once more, "I always forget how much you can eat, so I overcompensate." He'd rather get too much than not enough. "I got what you usually want, and then some extras."
***
Blake grinned. He leaned in and kissed Cas on the lips, but pulled back after a moment and stuck the flower back into the bunch with the others. He knew if he allowed himself to get distracted, he wouldn't eat.
"And that just means there's plenty for leftovers." He pulled a plate out of the cabinet so he could start dishing out some of the food. "You're so good to me, Cas."
***
"No better than you deserve," he said with a smile. He understood why Blake had pulled away from the kiss, the man needed to eat. And while Castiel didn't mind distracting him from food every once in a while, he didn't want to all the time. Because humans needed to eat, even if Castiel didn't. He knew he wasn't human.
He peered at the food as Blake started opening the containers. He plucked a mushroom from one of the containers, and popped it into his mouth. Mmm, molecules. "What do mushrooms taste like to you?" He was curious, as he'd not really eaten many vegetables during the time he was human.
***
"Mostly they're slimey. And the different kinds taste different. These taste like the sauce they're cooked in," he said, plucking one out for himself. "I don't like them grilled or on steak or whatever, but in chinese food they're okay." Hopefully that answered Cas' question.
"Of course the best part of Chinese food is the fortune cookie."
***
He nodded at Blake's words, it answered his question well enough. He understood that it was probably difficult to explain what something tasted like to someone who couldn't really taste something like they're supposed to taste. "So Chinese food mushrooms are better than regular mushrooms," he said, considering Blake's words.
"What is your fortune, then?" he asked. He knew what fortune cookies were, that they were supposed to give you a fortune of sorts. "Is it 'you will meet a handsome man'?"
***
Blake cracked open the a fortune cookie. "This is a prosperous time for you," he read. He made a face, nodded. "Yeah, I guess it is. I mean, I'm happy which is kind of like prospering, isn't it?" He was very happy with Cas. Happier than he'd ever imagined he could be before he met Cas.
***
"A prosperous time, huh?" he asked with a grin. He reached over and took half of the fortune cookie from Blake. "If I eat half that means I'm going to have half of a prosperous time, right?" That wasn't exactly how it worked. But Castiel didn't really care, he just wanted half the fortune cookie. He'd never actually eaten a fortune cookie before.
He leaned in and kissed Blake softly, "I'm happy when I'm with you. And when you're happy."
***
"I think it means you're what makes me prosperous," Blake said. It sounded good, anyway. Even if it was deeply flawed logic. He didn't care. Being with Cas made him happy.
"I'm always happy when I'm with you, Cas." And when he wasn't with Cas directly, thinking about him made Blake happy too.
***
"I make you prosperous, do I?" he asked with a smile. "I like the sound of that." Yes, he understood that it was flawed logic, but he still liked the sound of him being what made Blake prosperous.
Because being with Blake made Castiel happy as well. Just the idea of Blake made the angel happy. He loved Blake more than he thought possible. He didn't realize angels could feel this kind of emotion, before meeting Blake.
"Do you want to watch a movie or something while eating?"
***
"A movie would be great," Blake said. He didn't need to watch a movie, but he liked to watch TV with Cas. They usually sat together on the couch, curled up and leaning against each other. It was nice. He liked that.
"Maybe a comedy," he said. He wasn't in the mood for a drama and for the most part action-adventure movies weren't his thing. Musicals were his favorite, of course.
***
"A comedy, huh?" he asked, as he made his way toward the living room. He could handle comedies. Especially while watching them with Blake. He liked watching movies with Blake. He liked doing a lot of things with him, honestly.
Except arguing. That was never fun.
"Let's see what's on Netflix."
***
Blake settled on the sofa and patted the cushion next to him. He liked cuddling on the couch with Cas. he didn't even care really if the TV was one. it was a nice distraction, but the most important part was that they were together.
