Ari snorted at his joke. "Just promise me you won't quit your day job," she teased. He was funny, but not that funny. She didn't think she'd ever get married, but the comment did make her think of Zak again and how her life could twist and turn until it landed on that particular outcome. Converted to Islam, married to Amaar, it seemed too awkward to be close to possible. It would be better for her to just forget about it, but she couldn't.

"Don't worry," she promised. "If that time comes, you'll meet him before it gets to wedding bells." Ariadne wasn't too convinced, though. She finished her brownie and wiped her hands on a napkin. "But since that's very far into the future, how about we focus on something a little closer to now? Hmm?" She grinned. "Want to get out of here?"
