Who: Alex Udinov and Jace Herondale
What: Random meeting during workout
Where: The Gym
When: Tuesday Evening
Warning: Probably low
Status: Closed/Match-up/Ongoing

Alex had been spending a lot more time at the gym ever since Pietro had been sent back. She still didn't feel comfortable staying at the loft alone, so she continued to spend less and less time there. She was still teaching self-defense and felt very proud of her work, but lately, she'd been staying later at the gym, punching a bag for hours. At least it felt that way.

Tonight was no different. She was wailing on the bag like it had personally attacked her, stopping to rotate her shoulder. Maybe she'd worked out a little too much, because she was feeling a bit sore. Well, why not? It was just one more thing dumped on her right now. At least this was just a minor nuisance.

"Fine, be that way," she said to the bag as if it were a sentient being, not at all caring who might have witnessed this.

Jace also spent a lot of time at the gym. It wasn't like the training room in the Institute back home, but it was better than nothing. He supposed. The situation with Clary was still strange - but he was getting used to it. For the most part, she was still Clary, and he supposed that would have to be good enough.

The girl next to him suddenly caught his attention, and he watched as she went crazy on the bag. He raised one eyebrow in a mixture of amusement and disapproval, and when she stopped, he couldn't help but address her.

"That bag, I believe, is an inanimate object."

"I'm aware," Alex replied without even looking at the guy talking to her. It wasn't personal or anything. She was just so focused on the bag.

"But it's pissing me off anyway," she added, before slamming a fist into it again.

Of course, it wasn't the bag that was really upsetting her.

"I highly doubt that," Jace said flatly. The bag had done absolutely nothing to upset her, he was quite sure. It was something else. He really didn't want to ask her because he really didn't care that much, but it was what decent people did.

"What is upsetting you?" He asked, basically because he had to.

Just as much as he didn't want to ask her about, she didn't want to tell him what was really upsetting her. She didn't know him, for one thing. That was probably the only reason she needed.

"Spoilers," Alex said glibly. "They ruin it for everyone."

This time, she didn't punch the bag, opting to rub her shoulder instead.

Jace raised an eyebrow. "Spoilers? Really? We're not even from the same universe."

It seemed rather ridiculous. Because anything that was upsetting her couldn't possibly be affecting him unless it had taken place in Madison Valley, and if something terrible had happened in Madison Valley, he was pretty sure he'd know.

Alex just stared at him for a few moments. It seemed he taken what she had said in a more literal sense, having not picked up on her sarcasm.

"Yeah, I'm not really mad about spoilers," she quickly said, not feeling like explaining the whole masking her problems with something silly like spoilers. "I told you it was something else because I just don't know you. Guess I could have just said that to begin with. No offense, by the way."

She barely told those close to her what she was feeling.

Jace just shrugged a shoulder. He wasn't offended by that. Why should he be? He was very much the same way, not wanting to share the things close to his heart with any but those he was closest to.

"Alright," he said. "I'm not much of a listener, anyway." He looked at the bag, and then back at her.

"But would you maybe like to fight something that can fight back? That poor punching bag looks pretty abused."

Alex glanced at the battered bag. "Yeah, it does. Oops."

She didn't feel too badly about it, though. "I could go for a decent spar, sure."

She didn't concern herself with her sore shoulder. She'd been through much worse pain in her life. This was nothing. She could work through it.

Jace was always up for a fight too, so he was actually bouncing on his toes a little in anticipation. He hadn't found many non-Shadowhunter people here who were really anything of a challenge, but he might as well do what he could.

"Probably be good for you," he nodded. "I know it's good for me."

He did a few stretches then turned to her.

"You ready?"

Alex probably wouldn't be too challenging. While she was very skilled in a lot of things like fighting and weapons use, she was still only human. She felt she was formidable enough to at least go up against powered people and hold her own.

In this case, it didn't matter so much. Sparring was far different from fighting. She'd get a good work out, at least.

"I'm ready," she said, which lead to the beginning of a decent sparring session.

[and wrap!]
