Letting Hermann loose around books was a dangerous idea. Letting him loose around books he could actually buy was an even more dangerous idea. It was still a little surreal being around books that were from a point in his past but from a point in his past that he'd lived through as opposed to before he'd been born. It was also rather fascinating. Then again, the strangest things were fascinating to Hermann. He wasn't nearly as bad as Newt, but even so.
Letting him loose anywhere near anything involving the hard sciences was dicey, as it was almost a certainty that he would either forget what he was doing and walk into something or that he would lose track of time and realize he was late for something. Or occasionally just plain old forget what he'd come in there for.
Marlene liked to laugh at him for that one.
This time, though, he'd actually managed to almost get out of the place without forgetting anything. Well, he wasn't going to forget anything, he just hadn't gotten out yet. He was just ducking into the cafe so he could set down the books he was buying and dig out his phone to text Mar, see if he had to pick anything up on his way home.
