It was freezing. There were bad winters in Japan, but a bad winter in Japan did not equate to anything quite as polar as what was happening around Madison Valley at this point. It was supposed to be warmer than yesterday, but when it came to negatives, was there really anything warm in general? Hotaru definitely didn't think so as she hustled her way to the library after school, back pack slung over her shoulders and gloved hands stuffed into the lined pockets of her coat. Even with more than a few layers on, she found she was still shivering as she rounded the corner. Thankfully, the library was only a few blocks away, but with how cold it was, it made Hotaru feel as if she was moving in slow motion.
Perhaps it was a good thing she felt as if she was in slow motion too because if she hadn't? She might have ended up colliding with a familiar face just steps from the library. Already, Hotaru was moving to apologize even if her already quiet voice was more muffled beneath the thick wool of her scarf. She hoped the other person would hear her and then she couldn't help, but sigh in relief when she realized it was Nico. "Gomen nasi-" Japanese slipped out too easily for Hotaru despite having been here for over a year now. English remained a challenge. "I mean. I am sorry, Nico-chan. I didn't mean to almost run you down," she corrected herself.
