Darcy wasn't able to knock when she got to Steve's house because her arms were laden with packages. They were mostly baby gifts, though she had a couple of things for Veronica too, remembering all too well what it was like to recuperate from giving birth. She'd left Stephanie at home with Haymitch, figuring that Keith was too little to meet his big cousin just yet. At two and a half, her daughter seemed to be a huge germ factory and Darcy didn't want to inadvertently infect the newborn with a cold or something.
Luckily, she was expected so when she hollered that she was there, it only took a minute before the door opened and Veronica just shook her head before taking some of Darcy's packages. "You know you didn't need to bring anything, right?" she said.
"Of course I did," Darcy said. "But it's fun buying baby things." And since she wasn't going to be having any more of her own, she figured that spoiling any nieces and nephews that came along was going to be good enough.
Veronica laughed. "Steve, Darcy's here and she brought an entire store," she called, leading the brunette into the living room. "He was just getting the baby up from a nap."
