They were having a nice date night; a couple drinks at the Wyrm, some making out, some cuddling, some talking. Inside herself, though, Toni was feeling a bit nervous. They'd been having lots of nice dates recently, and Toni was starting to feel like maybe it was time to make things official. She didn't know if Mitsuko felt the same way, though. She knew Mitsuko had been through a lot, and that she wasn't always the most forthcoming with her emotions. Toni wanted more, but she also didn't want to ruin what they had.
She waited for a quiet moment in the conversation, when they were both just enjoying the feeling of each others' closeness and sipping their drinks. She let herself relax into Mitsuko for a moment longer, then sat upright, holding Mitsuko's hand between her own, her face serious.
"Hey," she began. "I think you know this, but I like you. A lot. And I know you like me at least enough to go to a dance with me. I know we've been keeping things light, and I'm all for a lack of pressure. But I'd also... like to be able to call you my girlfriend." She felt herself blushing a little as she said it, but she didn't look away from Mitsuko or let her face become embarrassed. She wasn't embarrassed by her feelings. This was how she felt. She just hoped Mitsuko felt the same.
