WHO Gibbs & Karen WHAT Catching up WHEN Sunday night WHERE Gibbs' house WARNINGS TBD STATUS Closed | Incomplete
Gibbs had definitely been withdrawn more than usual after Kevin and Evelyn were returned to their respective times and places. Children weren't something he wanted in his future. He was sixty years old. That shouldn't even be possible for him anymore, though it wasn't like he'd ever gotten that confirmed. He had Emily, a beautiful niece who was bright and head strong and good, and so long as he did right by her, he'd be alright with his life. Having Karen was nice, but he didn't want more than what they already had. He definitely didn't want Kevin to be a reality, though he was struggling with how to communicate that to Karen in an appropriate way.
He did his best thinking while working and so he was in the basement, sanding away at the nearly completed boat. It would need a good sanding, a few coats of sealant, and then some painting details to finish it all off. Gibbs was the sort of person who never went into anything unprepared and although he wasn't fully prepared, he knew his time was potentially running out until they had a conversation about it all. They hadn't even talked about the fact that he and Lydia had had a child from that alternate timeline, either.
When the door to the basement opened, Gibbs glanced up but he already knew it was Karen. "Hey," he greeted, and then went back to sanding. She would need a few minutes to get down the stairs and to him.
