Who: Lisa Snart, Sam Winchester, Lenny
What: Kid Invasion Awkwardness
Where: Lisa's place
When: Sunday
Warnings: Not likely
Status: Closed

Lenny hadn't shown up until Sunday. Sam had been headed out for a run when he noticed the boy sitting on the front steps of the house. Unable to ignore a child sitting on his own, even if Sam really just wanted to go for his early morning run and try to clear his head before he faced a new day with the kids in town, he made his way over to the boy and stood a few arm lengths away until he learned the boy was named Lenny, and while Sam (or some other version of Sam) was his father, Lisa Snart was his mother.

Sam barely knew Lisa. He'd talked to her a few times. He'd known her brother Leonard far better than he knew Lisa. He missed Leonard, truth told. And he wasn't entirely sure what to make of this new offspring named after the man. Sam would do his best to make sure the boy didn't know Sam felt awkward about him being there, and tried his best to seem calm and collected for the boy's sake.

"Your mom's going to be happy to see you," Sam told him as they approached Lisa's place. He hoped he wasn't wrong about that.

Lenny nodded. He seemed to be on the quiet, introspective side. Kind of like Sam had been, insofar as he was able to be, at that age.

Considering how her childhood went, Lisa was not looking to ever have children. Mostly, this was due to the fact that she knew she would simply not make a good mother...at all. For one, she was a criminal and liked being a criminal. She'd seen what that kind of life ended up doing to children and as much as she enjoyed being a criminal...she was not entirely sure she wanted her child to be like her. Not that she had a choice because her father practically pulled her into the life at a young age and being that was all her brother and her knew? It became what they did to survive, but she didn't want that for her child...if she had one which she never planned on.

Until now. Until Sam Winchester reached out on the network to tell her that she did indeed have a child...with him. It was crazy to think of and yet, it was happening. She'd been blissfully spared the last bout of child craziness, but unfortunately not this time. She barely knew Sam outside of a few random encounters and what he knew of Lenny during his time here. Having a child between them? Well, it was bound to make things awkward at best. Plus, there was the child himself, named after Lenny and Lisa had no idea who she was going to react to being around him either.

Lisa opened the door to her apartment when she spotted the two approaching. Immediately, she knew there was no doubt the child was Sam's and hers. The looks of both of them were clear as a bell. "Sam hey..." she trailed off, eyes falling to the young boy beside him. "Hi...Lenny."

"Hi, Mom." Lenny said. He moved a step forward, almost cautious, and wrapped his arms around her waist.

Sam shifted his feet in a show of nerves. He wasn't nervous, but this was an awkward, unnerving situation. "So, yeah. Hi," Sam said, shifting his focus from Lenny to Lisa.

"I don't know the story," he said to her. "But he seems like a good kid."

Lisa was definitely not expecting Lenny to hug her. Granted, it was a tentative, cautious gesture which signaled his unsure feelings on the action too, but Lisa felt a pang in her heart. She hoped it was due to him simply being unsure of how this version of her would react versus them simply not having a close relationship in his time. Lisa slowly moved to wrap her arms lightly around the boy in turn. "How are you doing?" She asked softly.

Sam shifted his feet in the snow and Lisa saw the nerves, but obviously didn't blame him for how he was feeling at this point. "Hey yourself," she greeted in return, attempting a smile. "Maybe he can shed a little light on all of that for us," she added, looking down at Lenny. "Let's go inside all of us. I might-I might have some hot cocoa in the cabinets somewhere." Actually, Lisa really wanted a stiff drink, but that wasn't going to be helpful to anyone at this point.

"Hot cocoa would be awesome!" Lenny said, showing a little excitement in his voice.

Sam nodded and prodded the kid to go into the apartment. He followed, feeling all the more awkward. He would definitely prefer something a bit stronger than hot cocoa, but hot cocoa would be fine too. At least it would give him something to focus on.

"I know you don't know me. I figured out this is an alternate timeline or something," Lenny said, proving he was a smart kid. He probably loved research the way Sam did when he'd been younger. "What I don't know is why I'm here."

"It would...if I have any..." Lisa trailed off as the boy bounded into the apartment. She was not sure if she did have any, but hopefully she did. Hopefully. Sam followed awkwardly and again Lisa could not blame him at all. She figured Sam needed something stronger than hot cocoa too, but that would have to wait...for a bit at least.

The brunette shut the door behind Sam and headed into the kitchen, digging through the cabinets until she found a open box of Swiss Miss and took out a few packets for the three of them. "You're pretty smart," Lisa commented, pouring some milk into three mugs and starting to heat them in the microwave. "And this is Madison so no one knows."

"I guess," Lenny said. He pushed a chair over to the counter and climbed into it, so he could reach another cabinet. "This is where you keep the marshmallows," he told her as he opened the door and peered inside.

"But this isn't where I'm supposed to be so I guess maybe you don't have any." He jumped down off the chair and pushed it back to the table. He sat in it, looking dejected.

"Hot cocoa just isn't the same without marshmallows."

It was strange to think of Lisa keeping something as trivial as marshmallows on hand seeing as she never indulged in that childish treat anymore. Sugar and all that which only adults worried for kept such things from her cabinets...not that it had to have sugar to do that. Lisa general kept very little food in the house unless it was of the frozen variety and capable of being cooked in a microwave.

Obviously, the boy came away disappointed because Lisa didn't have any and the brunette frowned, feeling suddenly like a horrible human being which was strange considering she'd done much worst than not have a stock of marshmallows present in the kitchen for a future child in which she was unsure she'd ever have. "I'll ask my neighbor if they have any," Lisa spoke up before she could think better of it. Shooting a look at Sam with a weak smile, she slipped from the apartment and returned a moment more with a small zip lock with marshmallows. By then, the cups were hot and she placed the mug and the marshmallows before Lenny. "Here you go. You're uncle was a fan of marshmallows too."
