This was so bizarre. While she loved Tea and had kind of settled down with her, Carmilla was nowhere near ready to have any kids. This morning, though, she got an unexpected surprise when she was awoken by a bunch of little children and two teenagers. One of those teens just so happened to be her future daughter with Tea.
It was now the afternoon and Carmilla had gone out to grab a quick bite to eat. She was in Hinkles when a little blonde girl came up to her. "Mommy, I found you!" she exclaimed and hugged Carmilla, who mumbled "oh god" under her breath. "Where's other Mommy?" the little girl asked. Carm figured she was talking about Tea, but nope, that wasn't her name. She didn't have any idea, so once she got her food and found an empty booth, she pulled up her network history and showed her all the people she ever spoken to.
"That one!" the girl pointed to a blonde that she immediately recognized as Caroline. Well, that was strange. But it was the Dome and the things it did never made any logical sense. Whatever. She needed to let Caroline know, so she shot her a quick text.

This was Caroline’s first experience with the “future kid invasion” scenario in Madison Valley. Seeing the number of random kids that showed up for a number of random, different couples, Caroline found she was grateful for the fact that she could not conceive. Thus, there should be no random little kiddies coming around to her and Amy’s door claiming to be belong to her and God knew who else in this town.
At least there should have been.
Caroline had just come off a shit at the Belle when she received a text from Carmilla. The sight of the message on her phone reminded Caroline that she should really reach out to the other woman, especially since it was the holidays. Curious as to what she could want-she was pretty sure Carmilla was saddled with a kid from her relationship with Tea-Caroline opened the message and saw a simply greeting and no explanation. Norma, really, and Caroline responded back with a similar response:
Hey! How are you doing? I saw you got saddled with a couple of future kiddies.

Carmilla texted her back: I'm fine. And yeah, so far, some teen girl showed up at my house. Said she was mine and Tea's daughter.
She didn't mention the little girl sitting across the booth from her. How could she? It was so strange and definitely awkward. She did like Caroline, yes, but they weren't that close. They were acquaintances who spoke to each other sometimes, maybe kind of friends, but that was as far as their relationship went. Was she suppose to just come out and say 'hey, I know we don't talk too much, but we have a daughter together?'
In the end, though, she figured that's what she had to do. Just come right out and say it. So speaking of which, there's a little girl with me. She says I'm her mother and that you're her other mom.

At first, Caroline believed she’d misread Carmilla’s text message. She had a child? And not just a child in general, but one with Carmilla? It sounded crazy. It should have been impossible for Caroline to have children because Caroline was a vampire. Vampires didn’t have children unless the girl was adopted and since her parents were two women that would make the most sense anyway. Unless there as a surrogate involved somewhere, but even then she barely knew Carmilla. To go from a possibly friend to a full blown type relationship involving love was a huge leap. No it had to be a mistake. The girl had to be confusing them with two other people.
As much as Caroline simply wanted to text as much, she decided it would be better figured out in person. Carmilla didn’t know Caroline was a vampire yet because the blond had not exactly been open with a lot of people in town about it. This scenario might actually be the reason for telling the other woman though.
It’s impossible, but where are you? I’ll come.
***
Carmilla thought the same as well. She too was a vampire, so there was no way she could get pregnant and have children. But as Ronnie explained to her and Tea, she had been adopted and so she figured maybe in some weird, alternate universe, she and Caroline did the same thing and adopted this little girl who she wasn't even sure she knew the name of.
She wasn't sure what Caroline meant by impossible. Things thought impossible were sometimes quite possible thanks to the Dome. But she texted her back: We're at Hinkles. We'll wait here for you. She then turned to the little girl, telling her Caroline was on her way.
***
Hinkles was not a far walk for Caroline, but using side streets she was able to use her vampire speed instead and arrived there far faster than she normally would. Still, she paused outside, taking a deep (unnecessary of course because she was a vampire) breath before she steeled herself for whatever she might find inside. Well, she knew what she would find it was just the whole believing it part that was difficult and that was difficult to think of considering how much Caroline had come to believe in because of living in Mystic Falls.
Stepping inside, she immediately spotted Carmilla and a little girl. Well, here went nothing. Caroline walked over and offered the little girl a smile she hoped did not betray how nervous she actually felt. “Hey there”, she greeted.
***
Cara was pretty happy when her other mom was going to be here so. She couldn't keep still no matter how many times Carmilla told her to keep quiet. She couldn't help it, though. She was just really excited that she was going to meet both her moms in the past, even though they pretty much looked the same. Vampires didn't age after all.
When she spotted Caroline, she immediately jumped up and ran over to hug her. "Hi mom!"
***
Hearing someone call her “mom” was definitely weird, especially seeing as Caroline was not planning on being able to have children...ever. Still, it was not the little girl’s fault that Madison Valley had decided to fuck with them again. She knelt down and took the girl’s hand in hers. “That’s me. Uh, yeah. Do you have a name?”
***
It was certainly very weird and while Carmilla was used to weird, this definitely was something she could not really get used to. Still, at least this sort of thing usually only last a week or so. The Dome might be unpredictable, but the one thing she knew for certain was that this sort of thing was almost always temporary.
"I'm Cara!" the little girl smiled. Then she frowned a bit. "And I'm hungry too."
Carmilla shrugged. "Well, you can order something from here if you want. I'll buy," she offered. But the little girl shook her head.
"No, I'm hungry," she insisted. Carmilla just gave her a confused look, but the realization slowly dawned on her.
"Don't tell me you're a little vampire too," she said slowly and Cara nodded. Great. Not only did she have a daughter with someone she only knew a little bit, but the little girl was also a vampire as well.
***
“Cara. That’s a cute name,” Caroline complimented. It felt fitting given that both Carmilla and Caroline started with a “C.” When the girl mentioned she was hungry, Caroline was about to offer the same thing as Carmilla, but the girl refused. This confused Caroline because she was pretty sure unless Cara was sick that kids were almost always hungry like ninety-five percent of the time. However, than the little girl emphasized hungry and Caroline almost fainted.
No. No. This could not be happening. Cara was a vampire. How? How did Caroline pass that gene on? Then again, how did they have a flipping kid in the first place? It just didn’t make any sense. Cara confirmed with a nod and Caroline ran a hand through her wavy blond hair. “Of course you. Of course I would have a kid that was a vampire,” Caroline sighed heavily and shook her head. After a deep breath, Caroline looked over at Carmilla. “Come on. We’ll have to get you a blood bag.” She might as well have just outed herself completely after that. There was no denying Caroline was a vampire too.
***
Carmilla had no idea how the little girl became a vampire. There couldn't be a passing of genes, she just figured they adopted. The only way she could come up with was that they had decided to turn her. Which was something she never thought of doing. She would never want to turn anyone into a vampire, let alone her apparent daughter.
But apparently, she did. And now she had to find some blood for her. "Blood bags would be good. Unfortunately, I don't have any." She didn't use them, instead she just drank Kenny's blood. And right now, she didn't want to add to the pain he was already feeling. "Maybe we can ask one of the other vamps in town for one. Or..."
She stopped, then realization dawned on her as she looked over at Caroline. "Wait... Are you a vampire too?"
***
Like Carmilla, Caroline too had no idea how the little girl could possibly be a vampire. It was not something that was genetic and Caroline could not see herself turning a child, especially her own child. She felt like Carmilla would feel the same way. It was a mystery, but maybe it shouldn’t have been too shocking given this was Madison Valley and all.
It didn’t take Carmilla long to connect the dots about what Caroline just said and after a moment, Caroline nodded slowly. “Yes. I’m a vampire. I don’t like to exactly talk about it openly with just anyone so I haven’t made it public knowledge,” Caroline replied honestly. “In this case, I figure you probably won’t tell anyone anyway and we need to get her blood. Let’s head back to mine and Amy’s place. I have a few in the fridge in my room.” Caroline took up the little girl’s hand and gestured for Carmilla to follow.
***
"Huh." Well, that was quite the surprise. Two in one day. Carmilla had to wonder what other surprises the day had in store for her, but now was not the time to think about that. "No worries, I won't tell anyone," she promised and nodded. "And yeah, let's get this kiddo some blood."
She patted Cara on the head and quickly paid for the food before following them, heading to Caroline's home she shared with Amy. She had been there before, but to visit Jo when she was here and sharing the house with Jesse and Amy. While they hadn't been too close, they had known each other through friends. Now both Jo and Jesse had gone home, and Amy and Caroline were roommates.
"Where's the blood?" Cara asked and Carmilla could tell she was starting to get a little weak.
***
Thankfully, the journey to Caroline and Amy’s place was not long and they arrived quickly. Unlocking the door, Caroline let them both inside. Thankfully, the house was clean which was a weird thing to be thinking of given everything happening right now, but whatever. Caroline made sure to lock up again and headed to her bedroom. “It’s in my room. I figured it would be better than storing it where everyone could see it,” Caroline explained and then she offered Carmilla a small smile. “And thanks. For saying you won’t tell anyone.” The blond disappeared down the hall and emerged a moment later with a blood bag.
“I’m assuming you know how to use this,” she said to Cara, handing the girl the bag and unlooping the tube connected to it and unsealing the top.
***
"Of course. I did the same too, so I kind of get it." Back home, Carmilla didn't really let it be known she was a vampire. Both because she was doing secret missions for her 'Mother' and because the last time she told someone, they viewed her as a monster. Worse was it was someone she was in love with. So she just never told anyone until recently.
She and Cara waited while Caroline went to fetch the blood bag. Once she came back, Cara ran up to her, grabbing the bag and began drinking. "Can I go watch some cartoons?" she asked.
"Fine with me if it's fine with your other mom," Carmilla told her, glancing over at Caroline, figuring she should ask as well. It was her home after all.
***
“Go for it,” Caroline replied, nodding toward the living room. “Amy won’t be home for a while.” Of course it would be a trip and a half explaining Cara to Amy or maybe not. Maybe the other blond was experiencing the exact same thing she was at the moment and would understand completely.
When Cara turned on the television and settled on the couch, Caroline turned back to Carmilla. “I might be open with it eventually, but for now? I’d rather keep it to just a few people,” she added. “And if you want Cara to crash here for a bit, I’m off of work so I can watch her. I know you have another kid to take care of too.”
***
"Yay!" Cara grinned and she ran into the living room, blood bag still in hand. A few moments later, Carmilla could hear the tv playing some kiddie show.
"Whenever you're ready. I'll definitely keep quiet until then." She might be a bit on the mean side sometimes, but she wasn't that mean. She'd keep Caroline's secret to herself until she was ready to tell everyone else.
"And I was going to ask you about that. We do have quite the houseful as it is, and it would be great if you could watch her as much as possible. Of course, she can come and visit whenever she wants." She didn't mind, hopefully Cara didn't mind either. She turned to the little girl.
"Cara, I have to get going but Carol-er, your other mom will take care of you until then, okay?"
The little girl nodded. "Okay," she said, though she looked a little sad.
"It'll be fine," Carmilla said. "I'll see you both later. And call if you need anything," she spoke quietly to Caroline before she left.
