Who: Star, Hiccup and Henry Jr. What: Surprise son! When: Saturday Where: By the store Warnings: Probably not Status: Closed/in progress
So at least there was one kid this time instead of a bunch. And Star had been a little excited to get to have a kid to play with for a while until he’d been shocked by how much leg she was showing, how young she was, and he’d called her Ma, and his name was Henry Jr. He also didn’t seem to know anything about magic or anything but at least he’d liked Barko Diaz so he was distracted while she found out where Hiccup was.
Star had used a spell to track him down because she wasn’t sure how fun of a conversation that would be over the network. Of course she hadn’t thought about what it would be like if he was with Toothless when she got there but luckily he wasn’t when she and Henry Jr. caught up to him near some stores.
“Hi. Guess what?” She waved dramatically at the boy following her. “Surprise son!”
Henry Jr. had been pretty overwhelmed but he was glad to see his father finally. “Hi Pa! Oh you’re young too.”

Hiccup had been out shopping, trying to find a few gifts for Aurie that were more age appropriate now that she was older. It was definitely a bit of a rush job because it was so close to Christmas, but no child who celebrated should miss out on the opportunity to open presents on Christmas morning. He had just left the toy store when Star approached him, followed by an awkward looking boy.
It didn't really need to be spelled out for him but he appreciated it all the same. "Hello," he greeted, a little awkward but he was doing his best. "It's nice to meet you." Hiccup felt weird asking what his name was, but he wouldn't know unless he did. "What's your name? How old are you?" He wanted to ask where he was from also, but that didn't seem completely appropriate.
Being married to Star in the Wild West had been awkward enough. To potentially have a child with her here? That was even more awkward.

It wasn’t all that weird for him since his mother had already had to ask and they both just looked so young that Henry felt a little bit like he was looking at strangers. It was also very odd to be in a big city, their farm was a ways outside of the little town they called home so he was used to nature all around. And he missed their dogs.
“I’m Henry Junior, and I’m twelve. Ma told me we are in the future.” And he looked dubious on whether he believed that or not.
Star was just glad with the reaction to her skirt that it wasn’t summer when the poor kid showed up. He’d probably have an overload at all the skin. “He’s from the whole alternate thingamadoo.”

“OH!” Hiccup looked way more relieved than he probably should have at the knowledge that Henry was from the past. “Oh okay. Well. I’m Hiccup here, but um. You can call me dad if you want, or Hiccup. Hiccup is fine.” He was rambling because he was nervous.
“We are in the future yes. And I was actually just about to go home because I have to check on Stormfly and Toothless. I’m pretty sure they ate all the fish I brought them this morning,” he explained, glancing from Henry to Star. “Do you guys want to come along?”

Both of his parents were acting fairly weird but Henry had supposed that it would be strange to have to meet your son before you had him. He was just glad they were here.
“Oh the dogs are here too? Yes, I want to go see them!” They had been his best friends when he was little and gone everywhere with him but they were really old now and were mostly content to let the younger dogs do everything while they slept in the sun.
“Oh…..right. We should probably warn you about that.” Star smiled awkwardly. “Toothless and Stormfly are a lot bigger than you remember. And also dragons.” She looked at Hiccup hoping he’d help because she was afraid she was terrible at this.

Hiccup had completely forgotten that the dragons had been turned into dogs for the visit to the future. Past. It was weird because the 1830s was still the future for him, but the past for a lot of other residents in Madison Valley. "Uh yea..." Now he felt kind of silly.
"Well if you do want to see dogs, we could always stop by the shelter. They could use some help playing with the dogs during this week," Hiccup suggested, figuring Henry wouldn't want to see the dragons.
Except the kid had wide eyes, completely interested. "They're dragons? Like in a story?" A beat and then, "That's so cool!"
Hiccup grinned. "Okay then. Dragons it is," he replied, surprised and pleased as he looked to Star. She was probably on board. She was always on board.

"Okay now he sounds like us." Star was glad to hear that Henry liked the idea of dragons. They really were cool and they would love the kid. It would probably make it easier to figure out what to do with him while he was here and if that weird message on the network was right he'd be here for a while.
"We totally need to introduce him then. Toothless and Stormfly will love having someone new to play with. And Stormfly still likes to play fetch!" That had carried across when she was turned into a dog.
"What are we waiting for?" Henry grabbed his mother's hand and tugged on it to get her moving. It was just always something he did and he hesitated for a second after he did it realizing she might not like it but to his relief she just laughed and looked at his father.
