WHO: Finnick Odair and OPEN WHAT: Having a drink WHEN: Tonight WHERE: Lou's WARNINGS: Possible Hunger Games warnings STATUS: Open/Ongoing
Finnick had spent a good part of the day wandering around Madison Valley. It was a pretty town, even if it was cold, and the lights and decorations for the upcoming holiday warmed him inside. It was nice to be in a place where people had something to celebrate. And ordinary people - not just a small group of rich people in the Capitol like it was back home. The rest of them, even the Victors, had never really had much to celebrate. In fact, Finnick would believe to the day he died that winning the Games had been the worst thing that had ever happened to him.
And he would be willing to believe that being brought here to Madison Valley was the best - if not for the fact that Annie hadn't followed. Annie had been his anchor through the worst parts of his life. Everyone thought he was so happy and strong, but he wasn't. That had all been a mask that had attempted to cover the pain and misery that he'd been through ever since he'd killed the last person in his Games. He was afraid, even in this seemingly wonderful place. He was terrified that before he knew it, he would sink back into the darkness that had almost overtaken him in District 13. And without Annie, he didn't know how to avoid it.
He was sitting on a bar stool at Lou's, nursing a pint of beer. He wasn't a heavy drinker - that had never been Finnick's way. He'd ordered it more to have a reason to stay here, in this dark place where he could think and not be bothered. Not that he'd really mind having someone to talk to, but he'd be okay for a little while here, even if he didn't.
