Tim still thought that murdering Constantine was a good idea, but he was reasonable enough to know that it wasn't really a solution. The idea of never being able to see or hear Cassie ever again if he didn't admit his true and honest feelings for her was a threat that had loomed heavily over him for the past two weeks. He'd researched every avenue, considered all his options and asked for help from the appropriate sources. Zatanna refused to go against Constantine, which was expected but still annoying. Hermione Granger couldn't help, and he was fairly certain she was more upset about that than he was considering the magic wasn't even remotely the same. Stephen Strange had preemptively said no before he even had the chance to ask.
He was out of time. Even as his mind continued to come up with ideas that were then picked apart and discarded, he knew the clock was running out. The only possible next move was to tell Cassie how he felt. Those feelings were a bundle of knots, messy and complicated in ways that were best ignored until now. The timer on his watch was counting down to the end of the two week mark and there were a scant few hours left. The fact that Cassie could see and hear him but not the other way around was annoying as hell, but it would make some of this easier. He'd sent her a note that he would be by after his shift at the Watchtower and suggested to Bruce that he take Diana out for dinner so that it would guarantee some privacy for the two of them.
He arrived with an hour left on Constantine's spell and knocked on the door. It was an unnerving experience to see what amounted to static in the rough outline of where Cassie was when she opened the door. Tim had been avoiding her because of it. Now, there wasn't any time left to avoid her for it. Now it was just taking a moment before this all came to pass.
