WHO: Han Solo and Rey
WHAT: Getting dinner
WHEN: Tonight
WHERE: The Red Pepper
WARNINGS: TBD
STATUS: Closed/Ongoing

Han couldn't say that he was really getting used to Madison Valley. He certainly hadn't given up and settled it - he still planned to get out of here as fast as he could. Driving into the wall hadn't done a thing except messed up his leg - and it was still in a cast because of it. He hadn't given up, but he was going to be a little more careful this time. Sure, he was impulsive and impatient, but he was capable of learning and the last thing he needed was another broken bone.

But just because he'd accepted that he was going to have to stay here a little longer didn't mean he was happy about it. Far from it. In fact, the whole mess had him in a hell of a bad mood. He'd been avoiding people - especially the people who claimed to know him - and was being pretty much antisocial. He was good at that, when he wanted to be.

But it couldn't last forever. Today he was on his way to get a sandwich at the Red Pepper, because he sure as hell couldn't cook. Closing the door behind him, he went to the counter to get in line, noticing a girl he recognized in front of him. A girl from his world. Dammit, well, he couldn't get out of it now.

He sighed, and nodded to her politely. "Hey there."

Rey had settled into life here fairly quickly, it helped that when she showed up Poe and Leia were both here. If they hadn't been then she might not have adjusted as easily as she had, she certainly wouldn't have been content to accept that there was no way out of here. Life here wasn't perfect but it was certainly better than fighting a war, the only reason she wasn't fighting to get back to that was because she had been assured that she would return to the very same point she left.

What she particularly liked about Madison Valley was that there were so many interesting people here, those from different worlds, different times and all walks of life. She enjoyed meeting all these different people and getting to know about the worlds they were from, she'd always been a people person and that hadn't changed when she'd found herself trapped in a strange town in a place she'd never known existed.

There were times she'd just start talking to people when she was out, forgetting that not everyone liked talking to people they didn't know about their lives back home. Sometimes though it was her that ended up having someone talking to her unexpectedly. Which was what happened today as she stood in line. It took a second for her to realise that they were speaking to her before she turned to see a familiar face.

She smiled at him. "Hi, how are you?"

Han smiled softly, but there was a darkness to it. He wasn't happy to be there, and he couldn't pretend he was. He knew nobody here, and to make it even more uncomfortable, everyone did seem to know him. He didn't like that one bit. He didn't like to be the one who was in the dark, with other people having more knowledge about his life than he did. It was uncomfortable, to say the least.

"Hungry," he said simply. After all, they were in a restaurant, and talking about that was far easier than talking about the bigger picture of how he was. And more pleasant, too.

"Rey, right?"

Rey noticed the way Han smiled, it wasn't the same smile she knew, she knew he didn't want to be here in Madison and it was clear in the look on his face. She knew it couldn't have been easy for him being here with people who knew him when he was older. She certainly couldn't imagine what that would be like.

"Well you're in the right place then," she said with a soft laugh, it hadn't been the response she'd expected but at least he'd answered her.

"That's me. How's your leg?" she asked, knowing he'd broken it in an ill-advised attempt to get out of the dome.

"So I hear," he said. "I hear the sandwiches here are pretty great." He'd tried out most of the other places in town, so he figured it was time to try here. He was really going to have to teach himself how to cook, because eating out was getting pretty old already.

"Still a little sore, but I can walk on it, so that's what matters," he said. He wasn't going to complain about an injury that he gave himself, especially when he'd do it again if he was in the same situation.

"What do you have here?"

"They are, they're some of the best in town," she told him. Rey didn't eat out all the time but sometimes she preferred to go out and get something, it was easier than cooking after she'd been busy all day.

"Oh good. Not being able to walk on it must have been inconvenient." Technology here was nowhere near as advanced as they were used to and she had no idea what their medicine was like so she was glad he was healing.

"I'm just getting a turkey club, nothing overly complicated. What are you going to get?"

The medicine here was rather barbaric compared to home, but as Han had never really been able to afford much of that fancy medicine, he’d mainly gone without. Still, it was taking his leg longer to heal than he’d hoped. Not that there was much he could do about it now.

“Don’t know,” he said, looking up at the menu. “It’s all kind of different from what I’m used to, so I’m kind of just trying everything.” He looked up and the back at her with a smile that was far more sincere. “So what’s a BLT? IS it good?”
