Who: Phil Coulson and Nick Sorrentino
What: Asking for an opinion
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Green Roof Treasures
Warnings: No real warnings, but does these two being smart-asses count?
Status: Closed/match-up/on-going
Phil was getting a start on his Christmas shopping. The girls -- Kitty, Klara, Jean -- first, then Pepper and Darcy, then everybody else. A man had to prioritize, after all. Which, naturally, was why he'd started out shopping at Walmart.
No, it wasn't that bad. He was just being a smart-ass. (Well, mostly. That cute little figure of a girl holding flowers had been too good to pass up for Klara.) Thankfully, Kitty knew him well enough. Of course, this just meant that he had to find the right real gift. Hence, jewelry. Everything could be fixed with jewelry, not that there was a problem here.
(Ssh, let him have his delusions, alright?)
But that was indeed why he was at Green Roof Treasures, trying to figure it out. He was smart. He was resourceful. He could do this.
He was going to ask somebody else. Possibly sound like an idiot in the process, but oh well. It wouldn't be the first time Phil Coulson had sounded like an idiot when it came to something like this and it wouldn't be the last. At least he wasn't asking Melinda's opinion. That would probably come with a lot more bemused staring and shaking of her head.
So what did Phil do? He asked the opinion of the guy nearest to him, who happened to be looking at something or other that thankfully was also jewelry so at least it wasn't a completely awkward conversation. Just mostly. "So, mind if I ask you a question, get your opinion on a thing?"
Sorry, Nick.
