WHO Gibbs, Em & Karen WHAT Thanksgiving WHEN Thanksgiving WHERE Em & Gibbs' plage WARNINGS TBD probably none STATUS Closed | Incomplete
Gibbs wasn't too fussed about Thanksgiving either way, but it was important to Karen so he worked it out to be off for the day from Lissa's rotation for the day. He could admit that even though dinner preparations were a two day event - brining a turkey took at minimum 12-14 hours - he did enjoy the domesticity of it all. He'd never been invited into the kitchen before, but his knife skills were certainly up to par and he was able to follow directions well enough. Plus, the fact that it was all three of them in the kitchen made a difference.
Something was going on with Em and Archie, Gibbs just wasn't sure what. He was resolved to let it play out a little longer, not wanting to meddle too much. He was definitely starting to feel more comfortable being a more parental type figure as her guardian and it had brought them closer. He liked that, and he was glad that bringing Karen into the mix hadn't changed it. All thoughts of the Wild West were pretty much gone, pushed away and compartmentalized, the only lingering parts were his budding friendships with Alfred and Bruce. Who knew what would come of that, but he did know he needed to make some new friends. Having thirty or forty some odd years was as good a way as any to build that foundation. That was for later, though.
As they sat down to eat, a feast in front of them, Gibbs found himself to be really content. He hoped that the women at his sides felt the same way.
